SCA, the Swedish personal hygiene company that owns brands including Charmin, Plenty and Velvet, is reviewing its estimated £100 million global media planning and buying account as part of a wider overhaul of its advertising and promotions agency arrangements. It is also likely to embrace SCA's media in the US, Latin America and Asia. Carat is the incumbent on the account.

  • Movistar

Telefónica has appointed Mother as the global ad agency for its Movistar brand after a pitch against McCann Erickson and Publicis. Mother will now create all ads for Movistar as Telefónica embarks on a rebrand of its consumer-facing services. The Movistar brand will replace the Telefónica identity in Spain and Latin America.

Meanwhile, the O2 brand, whose advertising is handled by VCCP, will be rolled out across Northern and Central Europe, replacing Telefónica's separate brands where they exist across Europe. Telefónica will only be used as a corporate-facing brand.

  • Marfrig Group

Global food supplier Seara, part of the Marfrig Group, has signed up as a sponsor of the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. The agreement, which takes effect immediately and lasts until the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, was signed by FIFA President, Joseph S. Blatter, and Marfrig Group CEO, Marcos Antonio Molina dos Santos.

Marfrig signs up as the final sponsor of this year's FIFA World Cup in the uncooked meat and frozen food category. In addition to securing exposure for Seara and other Marfrig Group brands such as Moy Park, Paty and Pemmican at FIFA World Cups and FIFA Confederations Cup, the sponsorship agreement also includes rights for the general use of the FIFA Event Marks in advertising campaigns and product packaging for the Marfrig Group worldwide.
