A special panel at our 2011 Latam Summit, next  month at Miami’s JW Marriot Marquis will focus on financing media, marketing and advertising ventures targeting Latin Audiences in the U.S., Latin America and Spain. We just got confirmation of two major players in private equity and venture capital sectors: Alan J. Sokol, Senior Partner at New York City based Intermedia Partners, a private equity investment fund focusing on the media industry across all platforms. Its current fund, InterMedia Partners VII, LP is focused on content assets which target underserved markets.

Sokol is going to be joined by Jose Vargas, who is going to provide the perspective of the private equity-venture capital funded entrepreneur. Vargas is co-founder and President of BrokersWeb, a provider of performance marketing for insurance products which has raised over $8 million in funding. Jose was previously the founder and CEO of MailCreations.com, an online marketing and lead generation company with operations in USA and Latin America, which was acquired by Livedoor in 2004. Since  Jose has been involved in M&A deals totaling over $150 mm and is an active investor in a number of Internet companies in Latin America.

The impressive roster of speakers at the panel (“Financing Ventures Targeting Global Latin Audiences”)  also includes Drew Meyers, Partner at Group Argent, a NYC based merchant bank based on the data economy. Meyers has been involved in several transactions funding Latin American and Hispanic media and marketing ventures and has a thorough knowledge of the space.

The three panelists will try to answer questions such as:

– Do companies targeting global Latin audiences sit in front of opportunities that were not available before?

– How have new technologies changed the playing field both from a competitive and M&A perspective?

– What do ventures targeting Latin Audiences need to have to be attractive candidates for funding (VC/Private Equity)?
