Arturo Duran, CEO of Impremedia Digital and one of the top contenders for the CEO position left vacant by John Paton in January, is no longer working at Impremedia. A Portada reporter tried to contact him this afternoon via e-mail, and got the following message back: “Arturo Duran is no longer with impreMedia”. Mike Wortsman, former head of Univision Television Group, served as interim CEO of impreMedia while the search for the new CEO was conducted. The Vox Collective announced the expansion of its leadership team. Miriam Muléyhas been named Vice President of Client Services and Strategy. Carolina Dammert has been promoted to Assistant Vice President. Ana Aguilar joins the agency as media director and Rebecca Zabal as Associate Media Director.

Fernando Estrada joins Eclipse Marketing Services as Director Hispanic Marketing. strada will undertake the development of Eclipse Hispanic marketing strategies and campaigns, while collaborating with clients to address their local market needs and opportunities. 

María Luisa Francoli assumes as CEO North America at MPG. Francoli, ex global CEO, assumes after the resignation of Shaun Holliday, who worked at MPG since 2009.

General Motors has appointed Joel Ewanick VP of US marketing. The former VP of marketing and CMO for Nissan North America will replace Susan Docherty, who will take over a new post at GM. Ewanick will report to Reuss and his duties will be improving the positioning of the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac brands in the US.

Richard Gerstein, Sears Holding's SVP of marketing, resigned from his post last week to become SVP of strategy and worldwide marketing for the personal systems group at HP. Scott Freidheim, EVP of operating and support business units for Sears Holdings will help fill the role in the interim.

The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) announced four new members of its Board of Directors and an expansion of its Corporate Advisory Council. The new members of the Board of Directors are Ivette Fernandez of Pfizer, Inc., Susan Gonzalez of Comcast, Vicki Iseman of Carnival Foundation and Orlando Padilla of Padilla Networks, LLC. CHLI also announces exceptional additions to its Corporate Advisory Council.  These include Florida Power and Electric, General Electric Grupo Salinas (Mexico), MillerCoors, Oracle, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), Telefonica Internacional USA, and Western Union.

As .Fox Network leaves U.S. Hispanic Digital Market, Rafael Hernandez, Sales Director for the U.S. Hispanic, has left the company.   Hernandez has worked at the offices of .Fox Networks in Miami. The company says that it will continue with its efforts in Hispanic Marketing on cable. An additional employee in Miami and another one in New York have also been dismissed. 

Chris Saridakis has been hired as CEO of GSI Commerce’s Marketing Services unit. Saridakis will oversee GSI’s existing marketing services businesses, e-Dialog and TrueAction, and will be responsible for running the company’s overall marketing services strategy. He was formerly working at Gannett as Digital Chief.

Former San Antonio Express-News General Manager Sergio Salinas has been named publisher of the El Paso Times. MediaNews Group Inc., which owns the El Paso Times, also named him president and CEO of the Texas-New Mexico Newspaper Partnership that publishes El Paso Times  and several New Mexico newspapers. Salinas returns to a newspaper where he worked as assistant circulation director in 1982-1983. He also worked at the Dallas Morning News before moving to the Express-News where he was executive vice president and general manager and also involved in Express-News’ Spanish-language publications,  from 2006-2008. He retired from the Express-News to work in advertising at Hispanic Advertising Agency, Creative Civlization.

Juan Chacin, President and CEO of Notus Digital Network Corp., is the new Director of Media Relations and Business Development at Hola Networks, an online ad network targeting the Hispanic market.  Starting on July 15, Chacin will develop a new division for Hola Networks focused on social media and new applications. Notus.TV and Notus WOW will be exclusively represented by Hola Networks.
