Research LatAm: Mexico: Social Networking is up 12.8% from a year ago

The time spent on social networks is up 12.8% from a year ago.

In July, Mexico had over 23 million internet user, which means a 22% more than the year before, according to the Comscore Media Metrix service.

Google sites were the most visited internet property in the market, reaching 93.4% of all online users, an estimated of 21.7 million of users, followed by Microsoft with 19.8 million users (85.0%) and Facebook with 19 million (81.8%). Yahoo sites and Vevo rounded off the top five with 58.0% and 37.7% reach, respectively.

Social Networks

Social networking is the most popular online category in Mexico, with nearly 30% of all time spent on them during July. The time spent on social networks is up 12.8% from a year ago.

Portals accounted for 27.6% of time spent, followed by instant messengers (16.5%), entertainment sites (14.2%) and email (6.9%).
