Rdio expands presence in Brazil – Joint Venture with Grupo Bandeirantes

What: Rdio and Grupo Bandeirantes have announced a joint venture in Brazil.
Why it matters: Rdio is a digital music service based in San Francisco, USA. With this agreement, Rdio is expanding its presence in Latin America. Grupo Bandeirantes is one of the largest media conglomerates in Brazil.

RdioThe agreement includes marketing, distribution, content and promotions. Under this deal, Grupo Bandeirantes' various properties will expand their digital music presence using the Rdio platform, and will develop content promotions that cross from on-air radio to streaming. The alliance will also involve media support for Rdio from Metro Newspapers, through an on-going integration with Band.com.br, media placement in out-of-home properties and across Grupo affiliated TV programs.

Grupo Bandeirantes is present in Brazil for over 76 years in more than 30 brands from different platforms of information: Band, Bandnews, Bandsports, Terraviva, Arte 1, Radio Bandeirantes, BandNews FM, Band FM, Nativa FM, Radio SulAmerica Transito, Stereo Vale, Band Vale, Ipanema FM, Educadora FM, Bradesco Esportes FM, Metro, Primeiramao, Band.com.br, One Brasil, One Pay, TV Minuto, TVO, Enter and Band Imagem.

Brazil is Rdio's third largest market and one of its fastest growing.

This announcement is the latest in a series of similar strategic local partnerships around the world, designed to create a richer and localized experience that accelerates new user registrations, active listeners and subscribers for Rdio.
