Yahoo! en Español has launched a new blog, sponsored by Toyota Prius, an effort presenting tips on how to live an environmentally-conscious life. The blog, called  Vida Ecológica, is hosted on Yahoo! en Español’s Canal Mujer and is sponsored by the new Toyota Prius v, in an exclusive partnership aimed at portraying the global benefits of switching to a greener lifestyle. The site features Spanish-language articles and original Yahoo! content related to the green culture, environmental issues and the sustainable lifestyle. Yahoo! delivers premium digital experiences – in both Spanish and English – to more than 75% of the bicultural U.S. Latino audience every month. The Spanish-language eco-friendly initiative hopes to steer Hispanic consumer towards a more sustainable way of living, starting with tips to save energy and reducing their impact on global warming.

Prius v marked the launch of the new Prius Family with a campaign that highlights the vehicle’s capacity and versatility to appeal to the Hispanic target. The idea cleverly draws on the parallel between the stereotypes Hispanic consumers often have of hybrids and those they may experience themselves.       

Different to the De Moda site

While Vida Ecologica can be characterized as a custom site like De Moda – a P&G sponsored Yahoo site – that promotes fashion and style for Hispanic women, a Yahoo spokesperson tells Portada that the sites have different scopes. “Vida Ecológica is a site focused on raising ecological awareness and all aspects of the green lifestyle. Our editorial staff creates content to
inform and engage users – writing about topics ranging from how individuals
can prevent global warming and how to care for the environment, to different
uses for vinegar and ecological home decorating tips.

De Moda is one of Yahoo!’s leading original video programs and sites focused on fashion, beauty, and style – all tailored for the Hispanic audience. Due to the show’s popularity, we recently extended De Moda into Mexico,producing local shows in the country.
