Médico de Familia to Launch in January

In a joint venture between the non-profit Inter-American College of Physicians and Surgeons (ICPS) and the New York City-based publishers Parlante Inc., a Spanish-language health magazine titled Médico de Familia – or Family Doctor – is slated to be launched this January with national distribution. Médico de Familia will have a monthly frequency.

The magazine seeks to fill a perceived void in Spanish-language health content in the national market. The articles will be written by ICPS-member doctors who are familiar with common health concerns of their Hispanic patients. The magazine itself will concentrate on recurrent health issues specific to the Hispanic population.

Médico de Familia will debut with an initial run of 60,000 copies, which will be distributed at over 20,000 medical clinics with a high concentration of Hispanic patients.
