Telemundo Media names Michael McAlone VP Sales O&O, KTMD Houston

Telemundo Media announced today that Michael McAlone (photo) has been named vice president of sales for Telemundo's Owned and Operated station KTMD in Houston, Texas, effective immediately. McAlone will report to Roel Medina, president and general manager, KTMD-TV.

Telemundo Media announced today that Michael McAlone (photo) has been named vice president of sales for Telemundo's Owned and Operated station KTMD in Houston, Texas, effective immediately. McAlone will report to Roel Medina, president and general manager, KTMD-TV.

McAlone joins Telemundo from Univision, where he served as a senior account executive for nearly 11 years.  In his new role as vice president, McAlone will oversee KTMD's sales team, focusing on business development and generating new revenue opportunities from new technology and growing TV markets for the station. He will collaborate with agencies, advertisers and leading marketers to create innovative solutions to connect with Hispanic consumers and viewers.  In addition, McAlone will work closely with other KTMD departments including news,digital and creative services to promote revenue and increased profitability across various platforms, both locally and nationally.

During his tenure at Univision, McAlone managed sales for the network, including online and cross-platform opportunities. McAlone was also integral to the team of executives responsible for securing advertising opportunities tied to the network's broadcast of the FIFA World Cup.

Prior to his post at Univision, McAlone was the vice president, southwest region, at Harrington, Righter & Parsons, where he managed a sales team that generated revenue for 45 television affiliates, including NBC Owned and Operated stations. During his five-year tenure, McAlone helped increase sales by nearly 20% per year.

McAlone began his media sales career in 1990 as an account executive at MMT Sales Inc.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri.
