» CafeMom officially launched
CafeMom launched MamasLatinas (www.mamaslatinas.com), the first bilingual website to serve Hispanic mothers living in the United States. By 2014, one in four moms online will be Hispanic. Additionally, 92 percent of Hispanic moms across the acculturation spectrum believe there is not currently a website that clearly meets their needs, according to a major national study of Hispanic moms conducted by CafeMom. CafeMom’s team includes General Manager Lucía Ballas-Traynor, Andrea Slodowicz VP Marketing, Johanna Torres, Editor in Chief, and Managing Editor Stacey C. Rivera Managing Editor.
» Meredith acquires Allrecipes.com
Meredith Corporation, the publisher of women’s magazines like Better Homes & Gardens and Ladies’ Home Journal, is the new owner of the world’s largest food website, Allrecipes.com , paidContent reports. Allrecipes.com has about 25 million monthly unique visitors. According to Meredith’s press release, the acquisition “more than doubles the audience of the Meredith Women’s Network,” which includes its magazines’ websites and Recipe.com, “to nearly 40 million unduplicated unique monthly visitors,” and “nearly doubles annual digital revenues for the Meredith Women’s Network.” (Meredith does not release annual digital revenue figures.) In 20120 Reader's Digest Association, Inc. (RDA) launched Allrecipes.com.mx, a new Spanish language version of its Allrecipes.com site targeted to the Mexican community. The new Spanish language website is also being visited by users in the U.S. Hispanic market. Hispanic visitors in the U.S. are being directed to the Spanish site for the Mexican market.

The company behind the most widely used credit scores, Fair Isaac Corp., announced Tuesday that its consumer website and products are available in Spanish for the first time, the Washington Post reports. FICO says the prices and products are the same as on the English version of the site.
» Gannett’s Community Newspaper Plans
Next week Gannett is expected to announce a revamping of its Community Newspapers, which provide 70% of revenues to the overall company. CEO Gracia Martore and the head of the U.S. Community Publishing division, Bob Dickey will announce their plans.It will be interesting to see how Gannet’s plans impact its Hispanic publications , which include La Voz de Arizona and El Sol (Salinas, CA).
