  • Mondelez

Mondelez, one of the world’s largest snacks companies, has put its global creative business in review. The review follows a similar mid-2018 review of the company’s media business, according to Adweek.  The first round saw Mondelez consolidating the North American portion with Publicis Groupe’s Spark Foundry on buying and VaynerMedia on planning and digital. The subsequent global review proceeded on a regional basis, with WPP’s Wavemaker and Mindshare winning a majority of work in the AMEA and MEU. Spark Foundry retained most of its accounts in the Middle East and Latin America while adding work in China and Southeast Asia.Mondelez has made several significant changes to its leadership team over the past year, including the appointment of four regional CMOs for North America, Europe, Latin America and EMEA.

 

  • MCM Worldwide

MCM Worldwide, a leather luxury goods brand founded by Michael Cromer and bought out by Sungjoo Group in 2005, has appointed Spark Foundry as its global media agency following a competitive review. PGR Media was the incumbent.Spark Foundry will handle strategy, content, digital buying and data & analytics, across the brand’s U.S., EMEA and APAC markets.

 

 

  • Goya Foods

Goya Foods celebrates in May its first year of partnership with La Moderna in México, Abasto Hispanic reports. This alliance has allowed Goya to successfully expand the distribution of its food products in the neighboring country, where it seeks to continue growing.According to Goya Foods Senior Vice President, Joe Perez, La Moderna is the right vehicle to assist Goya Foods in this expanding effort.Goya Foods is using its´production plant in Texas to send its´products to La Moderna and focusing on northern México, but the brand hopes to continue expanding to other regions of the country.To continue with its global expansion plans, Goya appointed a new Director of International Business Development, according to Joe Pérez, Goya Senior Vice President.

Inmuebles24, the largest real estate portal in Mexico, and FCB&FiRe presented the new campaign “My Home, Your Home” with the concept #MeSientoMexicano (I feel Mexican) shows the feeling of pride that is strengthened after finding a home.

  • MercadoLibre, Inc.

MercadoLibre, Inc., a Latin American e-commerce technology company, announced it intends to offer approximately US$1 billion of common stock. The company reported it also intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to US$150 million of additional shares of common stock.MercadoLibre then revealed it has entered into an agreement pursuant to which PayPal Holdings, Inc. has committed to making a US$750 million strategic investment through the purchase of common stock. MercadoLibre noted that in a separate agreement, an affiliate of Dragoneer Investment Group has agreed to purchase US$100 million of Series A perpetual convertible preferred stock. The PayPal and Dragoneer investments are contingent upon the closing of the public offering and are expected to close at the same time or shortly after the public offering.Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Argentina, MercadP Libre provides solutions to individuals and companies buying, selling, advertising, and paying for goods online.

  • Rappi

On-demand delivery platform Rappi has appointed Ogilvy Mexico as its regional agency. Founded in 2015, the company nowadays operates in 23 cities in six LatAm countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay. Rappi landed the mexican market two years ago and has already more than one million users who make nearly 50,000 daily orders. It currently operates in the State of Mexico, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Monterrey, Mérida, Puebla and, of course, Mexico City. Rappi´s Marketing Director Carlos Leal is a member of Portada´s Brand Star Committee LatAm.

 

 

  • United Airlines

United Continental Holdings Inc is eying joint ventures with three Latin American carriers in the near future, Reuters has reported.United, the third-largest U.S. passenger carrier, is trying to finalize joint-venture agreements with Colombian airline Avianca Holdings , Panama’s Copa Airlines and Brazil’s Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras. Such deals would improve connectivity between the U.S. and Latin American aviation markets and create growth opportunities.United is looking to add lie-flat beds in business class in 2020 on some of its Boeing 737 MAX 10 narrow-bodies that would fly domestic routes.

 

 

  • Holiday Inn

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) announced the new opening of the 4-story, 196-room Holiday Inn Ciudad Juárez hotel. Located on Juarez Tecnologico Avenue 3620, Partido Iglesias neighborhood, and a few minutes from the Abraham Gonzalez International Airport serving Ciudad Juarez, the hotel opens following an investment made by its franchisee Fibra Inn of more than MX$ 211 million pesos.Owned by Fibra Inn and managed by Grupo Hotelero Prisma, the Holiday Inn Ciudad Juarez hotel is franchised by an affiliate of IHG. Fibra Inn, who currently has 15 hotels under the IHG family of brands, is one of the longest-standing owner groups in Mexico. The Holiday Inn brand is part of IHG’s diverse family of brands in nearly 100 countries and territories.

  • Iberia

Iberia is boosting its services to Latin America with three additional weekly flights to both Buenos Aires and Mexico City. As of 27 October, the Spanish airline will raise the number of flights from 14 to 17 times a week to Buenos Aires, which it has served since 1946. Iberia is also scheduling 17 flights a week between Madrid and Mexico City for the 2018/2019 winter season, three more than in the past .Iberia is the leading airline on routes linking Europe and Latin America, with 254 flights each week to destinations in 16 countries. In addition to its Buenos Aires and Mexico City routes, the airline is adding flights to Santiago, Chile (from one daily flight to 10 per week), Rio de Janeiro (from four to five times a week) and San Juan, Puerto Rico (24% more seats than in the 2018 summer season), On 1 October it will also launch daily flights to Guatemala City (currently four flights per week).

 

  • Norwegian

Low-cost Norwegian Air is interested in operating domestic flights within Brazil, as it plans its debut in Latin America’s largest economy in March with a flight between Sao Paolo and England.The airline’s interest was made public by Brazil’s tourism minister Vinicius Lummertz, who said Norwegian can start operating international flights with approval earlier this month from Brazilian flights regulator Anac.Norwegian has not specified the destination in England.Foreign airlines cannot incorporate in Brazil, but Congress is reviewing a proposal to change the law. If approved, Lummertz said, Norwegian could slash domestic flight costs by half.The Brazilian domestic market is dominated by four main airlines, Latam Airlines Group SA, Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes SA, Azul SA and Avianca Holdings SA, all of which posted net losses in the most recent quarter, due to higher oil prices and local currency devaluation.

prog-2-11Diageo, owner of brands like Smirnoff, has decided to retain Dentsu Aegis Networks’ Carat in North America (including in the U.S.), Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia, WPP’s Mindshare in India and South Africa, and Publicis Media’s Mediavest in Australia. The brand concluded a global review of its US$2.3bn that began last May.Diageo spent US$105 million on measured media in the U.S. last year, down from US$147 million in 2014, according to Kantar Media. The firm indicated that its advertising remained focused on Cîroc, Crown Royal, Smirnoff, Captain Morgan, and Johnnie Walker and increased on Don Julio and Bulleit.

For Gadsden’s Back Forty Beer Co., the trade mission is an opportunity to expand a new focus on international sales.Back Forty, regarded as one of the pioneers of craft beer in Alabama, is currently exporting several of its beer varieties — including Naked Pig, Truck Stop Honey and Freckle Belly – to China and Canada.   • Enterprise Rent-A-Car

descarga (4)Enterprise Holdings Inc. recently announced that it is expanding theEnterprise Rent-A-Car brand’s presence in the Caribbean and Latin America with the opening of 22 new locations.The company also owns National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car in addition to its flagship Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand.Enterprise Rent-A-Car will open 13 airport and downtown locations in Belize,Honduras, Mexico, Tortola, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos and Uruguay by April. An additional eight Mexico airport locations will come online by May as well as a new Cancun, Mexico, location opening in June.

  • ‘Share a Coke’ by Coca-Cola

descarga (11)Coca-Cola will release the next phase of its “Share a Coke” campaign, Adage reports. Starting in April, the company will put lyrics of almost 70 popular songs on packaging. Coke will also include lyrics from some of its iconic campaigns. The campaign, called “Share a Coke and a Song,” will be supported by music-themed TV spots, social media and a summer-long experiential tour. The campaign includes Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero and Coca-Cola Life. Agencies on the campaign include: Wieden & Kennedy, Portland for creative; Universal McCann for media; Arc Worldwide for shopper marketing; Cornerstone Agency for music; Fast Horse for PR and FortyFour and Irban Group for e-commerce.Coke plans to extend its campaign to mobile by encouraging consumers to use the Shazam app to scan bottles and in-store signage. That will allow users to record a 15-second “digital lip-sync video” that can be shared on social media using the hashtag #ShareaCoke, according to the brand.”Share a Coke and a Song” is part of the “Taste the Feeling” campaign.

  •  Shangri-La Hotels

descarga (6)Shangri-La Hotels has appointed DigitasLBi to lead a global team of agencies from Publicis Groupe to run all creative, digital and media accounts, according to Mediapost. DigitasLBi, BBH and Zenith will comprise the integrated team, with support from those agencies in areas such as brand strategy, creative strategy and execution, CRM, media planning and buying across Shangri-La, Hotel Jen, Kerry Hotels and Golden Circle brands.Shangri-La worked with multiple agencies and ended its relationship with Ogilvy earlier in 2016.
