Marcos oversees editorial and sales. He is based in Portada's NYC headquarters. Prior to launching Portada in 2003, Marcos worked in both the media and finance sectors. He occupied leading roles at the Spanish edition of The Wall Street Journal, in Spain’s newspaper Cinco Dias and at SwissRe. He is an MBA, and a CFA. Marcos is a print junkie and also loves all things digital media. He also is passionate about everything related to New York City and loves to play tennis.

Carolina has a degree in Communications from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and joined the Portada team in 2010. She is currently Editor of Portada’s Spanish-language website and print magazine. in addition, she oversees Portada’s English-language website about Latin America and also has a leading role in compiling Portada Databases. In other words, she is very busy. But she loves it! Carolina has published articles in various independent media, as well as in books and social science magazines in Argentina. Carolina enjoys reading all kind of books and watching independent movies.

Raul Ramirez Riba

Raúl Ramírez Riba is an avid digital content buff whose passions include film and music. He is Digital Projects Manager and Writer at Portada. He works out of Mexico City. We like to call him our Tech Geek Chilango version. Raul studied Communications at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. Raúl worked for three years as head of web operations at radio station Ibero 90.9 and spent a year as Editor in Chief of the WannaFlock.com portal.

Wendy Selene Pérez Becerra

Wendy is a journalist and was previously coordinator of research and public opinion at Mural Newspaper (Guadalajara, Grupo Reforma), as well as its social affairs, NGOs, human rights and religious associations reporter. She has a Clarín Masters in Journalism from Universidad de San Andrés-Columbia University in Argentina. Wendy worked as a reporter for the print edition of newspaper Clarín and was Editor at Clarín.com, and was also a special reports contributor for the weekly Perfil. She has served as head of information at CNNMéxico and was features editor at Domingo magazine, which belongs to the daily El Universal. Wendy has been a rapporteur and fellow at Gabriel García Máquez’s New Iberoamerican Journalism Foundation (FNPI), and a fellow at the University of Michigan.

Laura Martinez

Laura has lived and worked as a journalist in Mexico, Chile, Argentina and the U.S. She was the founder and editor in chief of Marketing y Medios magazine, an English- language trade publication devoted to explaining the Hispanic market to a non-Spanish speaking audience of executives and marketers. Prior to that, she was responsible for creating and launching the Spanish-language edition of the Wall Street Journal. She was also the creator and founding editor of Entrepreneur magazine´s Spanish-language Web site www.SoyEntrepreneur.com. She is fluent in Spanish, English and French and works as a freelance writer and editor in New York City, where she has survived a terrorist attack, a massive blackout, a neighborhood pipe explosion and the transformation of Time Square into Disney World. She writes from a one-bedroom apartment overlooking the Hudson River in Harlem, though wishes she could afford a pied-a-terre in Paris.

Candice Carmel

Candice has a BA in Communications from The American University in Washington, D.C., and a Certificate in Translation from New York University. A native “Boricua”, Candice has the perfect understanding of the intersection between the Hispanic and U.S. Advertising and Media world. She joined the Portada team in 2010 and is responsible for translating and editing all content in English on our website and print publications. Candice also runs her own translation business and was previously Translation Editor for the Spanish edition of The Wall Street Journal. She is also certified as a Spanish-English translator by the American Translators Association. Candice has a passion for all things Italy and writes a blog on Italian news and travel called Candice in Wonderland (@myitalia).

José Cervera

José Cervera has been writing about Internet, technology and science in the media since 1995. He has been published in newspapers (Cinco Días, 20 minutos, El País, El Mundo, ABC, La Gaceta and Público), magazines (Muy Interesante, Quo, Orsai, Generación XXI and Amazings/Naukas), academic publications and digital media, some founded by him (Baquía). He is a professor at the School of Communication Sciences at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, a regular speaker at specialized conferences and has published numerous articles on media in the digital age. José has also taught digital adaptation for professional journalists at newspapers such as El Comercio of Lima and El Mercurio of Santiago, Chile. In 2003, he started a science blog called Retiario, currently on RTVE.es. He currently hosts Cine a Contracorriente, a politics and cinema debate program on Hispán TV, and is a regular guest on television talk and debate programs. José lives in Madrid and spends most of his time on the net.

Debora is a veteran of the newspaper, magazines and book editing sector. She has worked for the largest publishing groups and media groups in Brazil and abroad. She holds a Masters in Journalism from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and a Specialization Course in English-Portuguese Translation from Pontificia Universidade Catolica. She has a home-office in Urca, by the footsteps of the Sugar Loaf, and loves gardening.

Dafne's strong sense for aesthetics and excellent design qualities have been paramount to develop the strong brand recognition Portada enjoys today. She leads her own design firm Dafnedesign in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Nicolas Miranda

Online Sales Manager

Nico is our "Chief Online Sales Guy". For Nico sales equal to excellent "customer service". Nicolas leads the online sales and subscriptions operation for all Portada products, including conference registrations. Based in Buenos Aires, Nicolas has a degree in Communications. He joined Portada in 2006, substantially enriching the company with customer service and telemarketing expertise he had previously gained working at Dell. Nico loves all kinds of music as well as music journalism.

Bob Oliva

Senior Sales and Business Development Director

Bob joined Portada in January 2010 to develop new business in the very important Miami/South Florida market. Bob is a very well-known industry veteran who spent many years in leading roles at The Miami Herald. In other words, to be a player in the Hispanic and Latin American marketing and media industries, you need to know Bob. Bob is in charge of generating new revenue opportunities and expanding Portada’s revenue sources and platforms.

Andrea Sánchez

Sales Director

Andrea is based in Mexico City and works on Business Development and Sales. Andrea is a very experienced executive with more than 10 years in different areas including sales strategy development (offline and online), PR and leading sales teams. She recently got a diploma in Digital Marketing. In fact, Andrea is a “tech geek”: for the last 4 years, she has been working on digital marketing stategies: websites, social media, advertising, SEO, SEM, Adwords, Social ads and all the new media available each day. Andrea has worked for some of the most prestigious Latin American B2B publications including Latin Trade and Business News Americas. She is the proud mother of three sons and in her spare time she loves to watch action movies.

Kelley Eberhardt

Sales/Marketing Coordinator

When Kelley joined Portada in New York City, she was told she would be involved in “everything but editorial”- and it’s true. Kelley works on Portada’s advertising sales, media partnerships, conference marketing and digital production. Before joining Portada, Kelley earned her BA from The University at Buffalo, and developed an interest in event marketing and online design while working on AVENUE and New York Family Magazine, two publications at Manhattan Media LLC.

Alessandro Criollo

Intern

Interns work very hard and this is often neglected. Not so at Portada! Alessandro is an important part of our team. His work for Portada conferences production and ad operations is essential. Alessandro also plays an important role in the compilation of databases. He is currently attending Pace University, NY, working towards marketing major. Alessandro is looking forward to the 2014 world cup and will be rooting for Team USA.
