Based in Los Angeles and New York, Acevedo will oversee the site’s editorial direction and staff management. Acevedo comes from People en Español.com, where she was Deputy Executive Digital Editor.In addition to her editorial duties, Acevedo will also work directly with Marcus Reynaga, Head of Digital Sales, to provide solid editorial offerings and ensure continued traffic & revenue stream growth.

 has been appointed as Director of Strategy of New Business at Rabinovici & Associates, a South Florida Advertising and Integrated Marketing Agencies. He will report directly to Ester Rabinovici, Principal officer of the agency. His broad experience in media, publishing and business development will be the key to expand the global network of clients the agency has acquired succesfully during the past 15 years. Prior to joining this firm, Chala worked for Latin Trade Group, Televisa Publishing and BrandInk Media in Puerto Rico.

Vice Media has hired a former Discovery Communications executive to oversee the youth-focused media group’s international expansion, including a push into television.James Rosenstock has joined the Brooklyn-based company as executive vice-president for international and corporate development. At Discovery he oversaw a US$3bn portfolio of international deals, including the US TV company’s acquisitions of Eurosport and SBS Nordic. Mr Rosenstock also worked at Sony and Credit Suisse.

 

mWAUsmjI_400x400Tribune is  parting company with Austin Beutner, the publisher of the Los Angeles Times. Mr Beutner led Tribune’s US$85m acquisition of the San Diego Union-Tribune, a move that brought together the leading newspapers in California’s two largest cities. Beutner will be replaced by Tim Ryan, until recently publisher of The Baltimore Sun.

 

descargaUnited Continental Holdings, Inc. has named Oscar Munoz as president and chief executive officer. Munoz will also continue to serve on United’s board of directors. Munoz has worked for brands like AT&T, Pepsico and The Coca-Cola Company. He most recently served as president and chief operating officer of CSX Corporation. Munoz also served as a director at CSX. He has served on the board of directors for United Continental Holdings, Inc. since 2010 and served on the board of directors of Continental Airlines, Inc. since 2004.

They will both report to Capó.
Why it matters: People en español, the ad revenue leader among Hispanic magazines, is investing to strengthen its digital offerings.

Prior to People, Capó worked at  Meredith’s Siempre Mujer where she managed the editorial tone, style and voice of the brand’s online and print divisions.  She brings with her vast experience in both Hispanic and general market, having worked as Deputy Editor at The Huffington Post Latino Voices and Voces, where she was responsible for editorial content, quality control and traffic for channels targeting Hispanic U.S. and more than 15 Latin American countries.

Additionally, Yoselín Acevedo has been promoted to Online Deputy Executive Editor and Tania Cháidez to Senior Web Editor, who will be both reporting to Capó.

He will continue to report to Rosenfeld and lead the company’s North American region until his successor is named. In his new position, Clouse, 46, will be accountable for all of the key areas of the company’s growth strategy, and will oversee the teams responsible for corporate strategy, global categories, global marketing, global sales, and research, development and quality. Clouse has served as President of its North American business and prior to this, as President of Kraft Foods’ Snacks and Confectionery business in North America. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in economics.

Lisa Szal recently was appointed VP of Majors/National,  at  Freedom Communications News Group. In her position Szal also oversees national advertising sales into Spanish-language weekly Unidos del Sur de California.

Adriana Lopez has taken the position of Director Multicultural at Alison Brod Public Relations in New York City. Lopez will be leading all new multicultural opportunities as well as for the brands L’Oreal Paris and Urban Decay.
For now, I’ll be leading all new MC opportunities for the company and for two brands: L’OREAL Paris and Urban Decay.

mwMary Beth West, EVP and Chief Category and Marketing Officer, is leaving Mondelez International after 28 years with the company to pursue other interests.For the moment, Her position will not be filled. West, 51, serves on the board of directors for J.C. Penney Co. and is a member of the Executive Leadership Council. She joined General Foods in 1986 as associate product manager for Maxwell House and held a number of roles over the years,such as chief marketing officer at Kraft Foods Inc. before the 2012 spin-off.

Prior to joining Zoomin.TV, Alejandro was Managing Director, United States & Latin America at Mobeleader. He is also a member of IAB’s Digital Video Committee in Spain.

Most recently, he was an International Strategic Advisor helping small/medium-sized companies expand. Born in Venezuela to Italian immigrants, he graduated from the University of Delaware.

corzoAfter 12 years, Hispanic Market Weekly’s Editorial Director Cynthia Corzo is leaving HMW to join the Florida International University as assistant director of communications-College of Business.

 

DIEGO-FEATUREDDiego Vasquez, a long-time contributor to HMW’s Ratings Watch and FocusON Entertainment features, will replace Corzo as Editorial Director of Hispanic Market Weekly effective immediately.
