descarga (2)Ikea, a multinational group of companies that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture appliances and home accessories, has concluded a media agency review which began in March, completing the global phase of the process and consolidating its roster of media agencies to two holding companies: GroupM and Dentsu Aegis Network.The firm spends around US$435 million annually on ads worldwide. Regional IKEA units will select a media partner from among the GroupM or Dentsu Aegis brands. Both holding companies already work with IKEA in many markets.

  • Swarovski

descarga (3)Swarovski, producer of luxury cut lead glass, has appointed Havas Media to handle its global media business following a review from Jan. 1, 2017. Publicis Groupe’s Zenith is the incumbent.The account now covers more than 35 countries with a focus on the U.S., China, the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, Canada, Spain, Mexico and Brazil. The account will include all media duties, including social and programmatic.

  • Mexico Tourism Board

descargaLourdes Berho of IWF Mexico was named CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board. She was previously the CEO of Conde Nast for Mexico and Latin America from 2004 to 2008, and she also served as vice president of commercialization for Grupo Banamex. She will assume the role of CEO for the Mexico Tourism Board on July 1st. She brings 25 years of experience in management, marketing, luxury travel, publishing and sustainable tourism to the role.

  • Copa Airlines

descarga (2)Copa Airlines announced they will begin direct nonstop flights between the airline’s Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Panama and the historic city of Chiclayo, Peru. The airline’s twice-weekly flights will increase connectivity between northern Peru and Copa’s extensive route network, which consists of 74 destinations in 31 countries in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.Copa’s new Panama-Chiclayo flight has the potential to generate tourism and trade between this interesting city and the rest of the American continent.Copa Airlines’ new flight launches as the number of Panamanian tourists visiting Peru is on the rise.  Flights between Panama and Chiclayo are timed to offer the most convenient connections to the Peruvian city from major cities on the continent, including Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., in the United States; Havana, Cuba; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Bogota, Barranquilla and Cartagena, Colombia; and other major cities of Central, North and South America and the Caribbean.

BBBBBBGoslings Rums of Bermuda has formed a regional partnership with the Monarq Group.Monarq will represent the Goslings portfolio in Latin America and the Caribbean for both domestic and duty free channels from 1 July.Goslings Brothers Ltd is Bermuda’s oldest business house and largest exporter. Goslings Rums said it had been driving an international expansion of the brand in recent years. The line features four products: the flagship Goslings Bermuda Black Seal Rum; Goslings Gold Bermuda Rum (in limited markets); Goslings Family Reserve Old Rum; and Goslings Gold Seal Rum.Goslings also markets a ginger beer and a cocktail in a can called ‘Dark ‘n Stormy’.

3j2Fdztz_400x400Mondelez International Inc. aims to buy Hershey Co., a deal that would give Hershey brand the infrastructure and potential to expand internationally, Adage reports.Any takeover of Hershey would need a nod of approval from the Hershey Trust, and were to take place, Mondelez would be considering renaming the company Hershey, put its global chocolate headquarters in Hershey, Pa., and protect jobs following a merger.If a deal were to proceed, it would mark the latest transformation for Mondelez. Both marketers work with a variety of agencies.

 

  • Atton Hotels

k0C31Y7D_400x400Atton Hotels, a Latin American hotel brand, will open Atton Brickell Miami its first U.S. hotel on Friday in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood. Atton, which operates in Chile, Peru and Colombia, bought the nearly 40,000-square-foot site in 2013 for US$6.3 million. It joins a limited number of Latin American operators in the South Florida market, including Grupo Posadas, Mexico’s largest, Argentina’s Faena Hotels and Fen Hotels, also based in Argentina.

 

  • Toddy by PepsiCo

descarga (6)As part of its “Sabemos de Chocolate, no de comerciales”( “We know about Chocolate, not commercials”) campaign, the brand Toddy, part of PepsiCo, created its first commercial starring one of his fans. The spot will air for three weeks in tv and digital media. Tomas Pulido´s video was the most voted with over 1400 votes and made him the winner of the contest carried out through the brand microsite. The young Argentine will receive free products for a year. The campaign invites followers to create and be part of the next spot. To participate, fans need to upload the video on the brand channel. The agency behind this effort was Carlos& Dario along Gal Film producer.

Hasbro – Global

Hasbro has announced a global review of  its media account. The global media account review comes after Hasbro´s two appointements of  David Hargreaves, Exec VP Corporate, Strategy and New Business and Wiebe Tinga, to the post of chief commercial officer. Tinga has been tasked with overseeing all of the company’s commercial activities across North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

Reckitt Benckiser – Global

Reckitt Benckiser has launched a review of its $1.8 billion global media account. The review also comes  less than three months after Unilever veteran Richard Davies was named director of global media. Davies will be leading the review.

The last review was in 2009 and Publicis Groupe’s Zenith  has been in charge of the account since then. The review doesn’t affect creative assignments, led by Havas globally.

Simon – Kucher & Partners – Latin America

Strategy and marketing firm Simon-Kucher & Partners is expanding into the Latin American market with the opening of offices in Brazil and Chile. The company said the opening was a “logical” step in its globalisation strategy. The offices will be run by managing partner Manuel Osorio who said: “With our new permanent presences in Brazil and Chile, we are now able to support our clients on-site with our service portfolio of strategy, marketing, pricing and sales consulting.”

Double Coin Tires – Latin America

Double Coin Tires (CMA) has changed its website domain name and launched a Spanish language version of the site as well. he Spanish language site is available at http://espanol.doublecointires.com/.

“We’ve recognized increased customer demand for Double Coin Tires not only in the U.S., but throughout North and Central America,” said Aaron C. Murphy, vice president of CMA. “Double Coin is a well-positioned brand with continued growth and exposure in these markets. Our new website address and the Spanish language version provide an easy way to access information about Double Coin products in multiple languages.”

 Spirit Airlines is contacting agencies about its creative and media business, according to sources.The carrier, which spends most of its marketing dollars online, has a budget of more than $5 million.The incumbent, Siquis in Baltimore, is participating in the process.The airline makes more than 200 daily flights to some 50 destinations in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean. It bills itself as a more affordable alternative to bigger carriers, with, for example, lower base fares.

Tate & Lyle, a global provider of food ingredients and solutions, announced the appointment of Gyro as its lead global marketing agency. Led out of its office in Cincinnati, USA, gyro will work with Tate & Lyle to develop and execute an integrated global marketing campaign designed to enhance Tate & Lyle’s position as a leading supplier of speciality food ingredients and solutions to food and beverage companies across the world.

Geometry Global is opening a new office in Ecuador to manage Coca Cola account, among others. The new office will be leaded by Fabian Bonelli that will report to German Yunes, CEO Geometry Latin America.

Cognito has been selected as the public relations and marketing agency of Belize Bank International (BBIL), the provider of international financial services in Belize. Cognito will provide an integrated campaign to promote both BBIL and Belize as an international banking industry. The program will feature a multi-faceted communications approach including digital, social and traditional media along with advertising and collateral development.

Pulpo Media is opening new offices in Mexico.
