Flores spent the last decade developing film funds with Shoreline Entertainment while producing animation for Animex, Olmos Productions and Phil Roman Entertainment. He most recently co-produced “El Americano: The Movie,” touted as the first Mexican-U.S. animation co-production. The new division will produce content in both English and Spanish and will be a natural extension of Shoreline’s management and sales divisions.

h8h5fjmf_400x400Matt Neidl has been appointed Head of U.S. Multicultural and Latin American Sales at UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), Neidl tells Portada that his new position will entail the offering of sponsorship and media sales opportunities for brands targeting the U.S. Hispanic segment as well as companies wanted to leverage UFC properties in Latin America. UFC properties include fighting championship live events, including UFC, UFC Fight Night and UFC Fight Pass, as well as “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America” Reality Show, In Studio Show “UFC Ahora” and “UFC Golpe a Golpe.”

He will join News Anchors Arlena Amaro and Alex Hernandez, Weather Anchor Lilian Perez, Sports Anchor Johnathan Solarte and a dynamic team of reporters. His will make his on-air debut in mid-February. Lozano joined the Telemundo family in 2013-He earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Robles will join Telemundo Houston’s weather team, La Autoridad en el Tiempo (Weather Authority), as well as News Anchors Martin Berlanga and Paulina Sodi. Prior to joining Telemundo Houston, Robles worked as a Meteorologist for Univision 45 Houston / KXLN for nine years.

descarga (1)Liberman Broadcasting has announced that Mexican journalist Pedro Ferriz Hijar has joined the company as news anchor of Cierre de Edición, the network’s national evening newscast.Ferriz Hijar has extensive of experience covering politics, government and economic issues across Mexico at some of the country’s leading media outlets including Efeckto Noticias, Poder Mexico Radio, Poder America, Hola TV, TV Mexiquense and other news media. He earned a Masters Degree at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid, Spain.


imagesThe New York Time has appointed former WebMD and Yahoo exec Lisa Ryan Howard as senior vice president for advertising, effective  on February 22. Howard will oversee international ad sales across categories including luxury, fashion, jewellery, retail, home, corporate and education, and report to Meredith Kopit Levien. After 14 years at Condé Nast, in 2010 Howard joined Billboard magazine as publisher, before being hired by Yahoo as business lead for the women’s lifestyle category. In late 2014, she joined WebMD as chief of consumer strategy.

Before joining Saatchi & Saatchi in 2015, Romina worked at cross-cultural agency, Sensis. A former President of the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA), Romina has also held leadership roles at top U.S. Hispanic agencies. Saatchi & Saatchi also appointed Mike Cooperman as Director of Public Relations for the agency.

Gravity4 intends to be a game changer in Latin America  by adding more transparency to the advertising ecosystem and eliminate the volume discounts for programmatic buying. Until recently Mantilla worked as SVP at UM in New York.



Romina Bongiovanni is the new  Director of Earned Media at Sensis. Sensis announced the newly created department, which already serves about a dozen clients and combines traditional PR, social media, content marketing and experiential capabilities. The new unit is fully integrated with the agency’s digital, creative, strategy planning and paid media services.

Independent Advertising Agency  Grupo Gallegos hired Sebastian Garin as Executive Creative Director. Garin is a veteran creative director known for bringing creative distinction and recognition to Latin American offices of international agencies like Leo Burnett, Grey and Publicis. Rafael E. Hernandez has been appointed Digital Director U.S. and Latin America at Televisa Publishing and Digital.

For the third time in a little over a month, the Los Angeles Times has announced a top-level management appointment or initiative involving a journalist of color, the Root reports. Angel Rodriguez was announced as the new sports editor of the Los Angeles Times. Rodriguez covered Major League Baseball and the NBA for Spain’s EFE news service. He was part of the team that launched ESPNdeportes.com, the Spanish-language sports website. He was an online sports producer (and later home page manager) for the Arizona Republic, and as sports editor of the Cincinnati Enquirer, he helped the staff make strides in its digital journalism.

“Times Editor Davan Maharaj and Managing Editor Marc Duvoisin have announced that Angel Rodriguez is The Times’ new sports editor,” Deirdre Edgar reported Friday for the Times. “Rodriguez comes to The Times from the Washington Post, and previously was sports editor of the Cincinnati Enquirer and home page manager of the Arizona Republic. And as a member of ESPN, he helped launch the Spanish-language ESPNdeportes.com.

Telemundo MediaTelemundo 52 Los Angeles / KVEA announced that Lizette Carbajal has been named Vice President of Community Relations. In this role, Carbajal will be responsible for spearheading the station’s community relations initiatives with Los Angeles-area community organizations to foster awareness about issues of importance to the station’s viewers and continue KVEA’s commitment to the Hispanic communities it serves. Carbajal will also be responsible for executing the station’s public relations efforts. In addition,  Telemundo 47 New York / WNJU announced today that Nilda Rosario has been named Anchor for Noticiero 47 Fin De Semana on weekends at 5:30 PM and 11 PM. She will join Co-Anchor Yaima Crespo, Weather Anchor Janice Bencosme and a dynamic team of reporters to deliver local breaking news and the latest information about issues affecting Spanish-language viewers in the New York Tri-State area. Additionally, Rosario will work as a General Assignment Reporter to support Noticiero 47 Telemundo on weekdays at 5:30 PM, 6 PM and 11 PM.

Antonio Villaraigosa has joined Estrella TV as a senior advisor to help the 4-year-old television network better compete with more established Spanish-language broadcasters, The Los Angeles Times reports.

NBC Universal owned Television StationsMike Chico was named senior VP, sales, for the Telemundo Station Group. He was most recently senior VP, national sales, at Clear Channel Outdoor. Prior to that he was executive VP of ad sales for MSG from 2006-2008, where he oversaw sales for MSG Network, FSN New York and the New York Knickerbockers and New York Rangers. He also was senior VP of East Coast sales at NBC, and prior to that was senior VP of Olympic sales and marketing. Chico will report to Frank Comerford, chief revenue officer and president of commercial operations for the NBCU Owned Television Stations.

Carlos A. San Jose was named by Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. as Market President for Chicago, one of the company’s largest operations. In his new role, San Jose will serve as a key member of Clear Channel Outdoor’s senior management team and will direct all aspects of branch operations including finance, operations, real estate.

Melissa Ortiz ,until recently working at ad operations services firm Operative, recently was appointed as Training Manager at Sprinklr.

Pinta, a new cross-cultural marketing agency spun-off the Jeffrey Group announced its new senior management team, led by Mike Valdes-Fauli. He is joined  by Alex Barreras, who had been Creative Director at a number of ad agencies; Romina Bongiovanni, formerly a Senior Vice President of Edelman’s Multicultural Practice and most recently owner of Journey Marketing in Los Angeles which Pinta has acquired; Joe Gutierrez as Managing Director in New York and Head of Strategic Planning, who previously held executive positions at agencies including Global Hue, The Vidal Partnership and Kirshenbaum Bond; and Lauren Cortiñas, joining from JeffreyGroup, who will serve as Managing Director of Communications, servicing the firm’s legacy PR business.

Tatiana Oviedo, until recently at the Jeffrey Group,  is now a Senior Account Executive at Boden PR.

Hilda Gabriela Hernández has founded “In Pink Clouds Hispanic Media”, a new media company that will offer the first line of Quinceañera-specific brands all operating under one media house. “It’s an exciting time to be in this space and to assist brands in connecting with the Hispanic youth and Quince market.” At the forefront of the multiplatform media vehicle is HildaGabriela.com, an English- language site designed for Hispanic families looking for assistance in planning a Quince or Sweet 16.  Hernández previously worked at EC Hispanic Media and SIGO

Joshua Engroff has joined The Media Kitchen as chief digital officer and as managing director of KBS+ Ventures. Both are units of MDC Partners. Per a report in MediaPost, Engroff succeeds Darren Harman, who recently took a senior post at Mozilla. Engroff was most recently general manager of mobile operations at Distillery, which was previously Media6Degrees. He was also senior VP, digital, at Prometheus Global Media.

Kristin Long was named VP, strategic sales for political and issues advocacy advertising at Tribune, overseeing ad sales in those categories for the Tribune TV station group. She will report to Larry Wert, president of broadcast media at Tribune. Long was most recently general sales manager for Tribune’s WPHL-TV in Philadelphia. Prior to that, she was a group sales executive at ABC national television sales and was project manager at MediaAdVentures for John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.

HavasYannick Bollore will replace David Jones  as global CEO of agency holding company Havas, according to media reports. Jones has held the post since 2011. Jones will also be succeeded as CEO of ad agency Havas Worldwide, with the agency’s global copresident Andrew Benette  moving up. Jones had been CEO of Havas Worldwide since 2009.

Ian Darke has been selected as lead commentator for ESPN’s 2014 FIFA World Cup TV coverage. Darke has been ESPN’s “lead voice” for international soccer since 2010.

The Ayzenberg Group, an independent full-service agency  on the U.S. West Coast, announced that Robert Brill will join the agency as Executive Director of  Programmatic Media effectiveimmediately. Robert Brill will oversee the day-to-day operations for the Influencer Outreach Network.

Kate Lewis was named VP of content operations and editorial director at Hearst Magazines Digital Media. She will oversee websites for Hearst’s 24 magazines. Lewis was previously editorial director at Say Media. She will report to Troy Young, head of digital, who had been president of SayMedia before moving to Hearst in May 2013.

LAPIZ, the agency for emerging cultures inside Leo Burnett, announced the hire of Diego Figueroa as SVP, Strategy and Participation Director. With a keen understanding of the General Market and Multicultural planning, Figueroa will oversee the agency’s Strategy department, which encompasses brand strategy, consumer engagement, research and shopper marketing.

The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has announced a new Chair-Elect, Al Aguilar, Co-Founder and CEO of Creative Civilization, for its 2015 Board of Directors.

Editorial leadership of Time Inc.’s People and Entertainment Weekly is being consolidated under Jess Cagle, recently the editor of EW who is now being promoted to editor of People and editorial director of EW. As a result, People editor of eight years Larry Hackett and style and entertainment group editor Mark Golin will both be leaving the company.
