  • Adidas

Adidas has consolidated its global media business. As part of the brand’s drive behind their 2020 ‘Creating the New’ strategy, Adidas will align all areas and territories and has appointed WPP’s MediaCom to execute the holistic approach from September 2018.After a competitive pitch,  MediaCom was selected as the agency to help Adidas and Reebok continue the momentum behind both brands and deliver a winning media approach. The combined brief will be executed across all platforms with a focus on innovation aligned to the brand’s strategic business plan; ‘Creating the New’.The areas of responsibility for the agency teams globally will include media planning, integrated media consultancy and buying, consumer insight and measurement. The two hubs for the global business will be London for Adidas and New York City for Reebok, with MediaCom staff also positioned around key focus locations for the brands across the world.

  • Latam Airlines Brazil

LATAM Airlines Group S.A announced that its consolidated affiliate TAM Linhas Aereas S.A. (“LATAM Airlines Brazil”), does not intend to renew or extend its operating agreement with Multiplus S.A., its loyalty coalition affiliate, after December 31, 2024. Concurrently, LATAM Airlines Brazil announced its intention to offer to acquire all of the common shares in Multiplus that LATAM’s affiliates do not currently own, and to subsequently de-list Multiplus from the B3 Novo Mercado in Brazil and cancel its registration.The acquisition of Multiplus and its full integration into LATAM’s network will, together with LATAM Pass, create what LATAM estimates will be the fourth largest frequent flyer and loyalty program in the world (measured by member base), and will cement the LATAM Group’s relationship with 21.1 million members at Multiplus. Multiplus members’ points and redemption benefits will remain intact, and Multiplus’s commercial partners will benefit from enhanced customer acquisition, retention and share of wallet.

  • Pizza Hut

Yum Brands hopes its new alliance with Telepizza, which was closed last May, will further expand its Pizza Hut brand internationally and that refocusing on a primarily delivery-based store model will help drive sales for the pizza chain. Pizza Hut’s agreement with Telepizza will position the combined companies as the largest pizza chain across Latin America and the Caribbean. The partnership calls for Telepizza to open at least 1,300 new stores over the next 10 years and a minimum of 2,550 stores total over the next 20 years, said David Gibbs, Yum Brands president and CFO, on a Yum Brands earnings call Aug. 2.

  • Hyundai has become the new presenting sponsor of NBC’s Sunday Night Football Kickoff show and will have the marquee presence leading into the primetime game each week. For the fourth season in a row, Hyundai is the presenting sponsor of the NFL’s Kickoff celebration. According to  Forbes, between 2005 and 2015, the total number of NFL Hispanic fans doubled from 750,000 to 1.5 million.

 

  • Dos Equis, the Official Beer Sponsor of the College Football Playoff unveiled its new television spots featuring coaching staples Les Miles and Steve Spurrier as part of the brand’s “2 Keep It Interesante” campaign.

  • Uncle Ray'sMinor League Baseball renewed a multiyear extension of its partnership with Uncle Ray’s as the “Official Potato Chip of Minor League Baseball.” Uncle Ray’s will continue its coast-to-coast expansion with exponential growth anticipated in the coming years. According to MiLB, some 18.3-million U.S. Hispanics designate themselves as fans of Minor League Baseball, behind only the NBA and MLS.

 

  • ESPN Deportes unveiled a new This is Sports Center campaign featuring Lineal Middleweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez and undefeated WBC, WBA and IBO Middleweight World Champion Gennady Golovkin ahead of their upcoming rematch on Sept. 15.

 

  • State FarmPhilips Arena in Atlanta has been renamed after State Farm locked in a deal to snag naming rights to the venue, now called State Farm Arena. The venue is expected to reopen in October as the Hawks celebrate their 50th year in Atlanta.

 

  • The NFL team owners will permit franchises to sell sponsorship deals to casinos that work alongside bookmakers and betting companies. Still, casinos will be prohibited from directly advertising its associated sportsbook in its partnership with an NFL team. According to CNN Money, the NFL’s Hispanic viewership grew by 28% from 2011-2016.

 

  • FanDuel Group and Minute Media are launching The Duel, a fan-generated digital platform focused on fantasy sports and sports betting news and information. The partnership will “blend together authentic, fan-fueled editorial content alongside expert-led video and audio programming for the growing segment of fantasy sports and betting fanatics” across NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAAF, NCAAB, and PGA. The platform will also feature expert audio and video content from popular FanDuel personalities including JJ Zachariason, Jim Sannes, and Brandon Gdula.

  • Pizza Hut & Telepizza Group

Pizza Hut, a division of Yum! Brands, Inc. and one of the world’s largest pizza restaurant company with nearly 17,000 restaurants in over 100 countries, and Telepizza Group, the largest non-U.S. pizza delivery company worldwide with more than 1,600 stores in over 20 countries, announced a strategic deal and master franchise alliance to accelerate growth across Latin America (excluding Brazil), the Caribbean, Spain (including Andorra), Portugal and Switzerland.The landmark deal doubles Pizza Hut’s footprint in the regions covered by the alliance; places Pizza Hut in the number one position in the category across Latin America and the Caribbean in terms of unit count; and confirms Pizza Hut’s position as the world’s largest pizza restaurant company. As a result of the alliance, Telepizza Group will become Pizza Hut’s largest master franchisee globally by unit count and a leading multi-country pizza operator worldwide.As master franchisee, Telepizza Group will oversee Pizza Hut franchisees who will continue to operate Pizza Hut stores in Latin America (excluding Brazil) and the Caribbean. Telepizza Group will also progressively convert its existing stores in this region to Pizza Huts and leverage Pizza Hut’s brand awareness to accelerate store network expansion and boost entry into key growth markets.

 

 

  • Heineken

Amsterdam-based brewer Heineken, currently the world’s second-largest beer company, has been conducting a global review of the media planning and buying business.Heineken calls the process a “presentation,” but it more closely resembles a closed review between the company’s two global media partners: Publicis Groupe’s Starcom Worldwide and Dentsu’s Dentsu Aegis Network, Adage has reported.Heineken does not expect to consolidate media buying to a single agency, according to sources familiar with the matter.Apparently, this review does not include other brands in the Heineken roster like Dos Equis, Tecate, Newcastle or Amstel Light. Heineken spent US$173 million on paid media in the U.S. in 2017, according to Kantar Media, while the  brand’s global annual marketing budget is approximately US$450 million.

 

 

  • BRF

Media agency Carat, part of Dentsu Aegis Network Group and led in Argentina by Guido Righetti, continues to strengthen its relationship with BRF, one of the world´s largest food companies. Following a review, the agency will continue to be in charge of online & offline media buying and planning for various BRF brands, including Sadia, Paty, Vienissima, Qualy and Campo Austral.

  • Amazon Prime Video is bringing UFC pay-per-view events to viewers in the U.S. The deal started last Saturday, March 2nd with UFC 222: Cris Cyborg vs. Yana Kunitskaya. No Prime membership is required to watch pay-per-view-events on Prime Video, you just need to purchase the fight. UFC 222 cost $64.99 to enable the streaming. According to a Washington Post poll, 38% of mixed martial arts fans are African-American, and 31% are Hispanics.
  • NewBalanceUSAThe New York Mets and New Balance announced a long-term sponsorship making New Balance the official footwear and apparel company of the Mets and Citi Field. The deal includes New Balance presence throughout Citi Field beginning in 2018. 31% of MLB players are Latino, according to ESPN.
  • ESPN and ESPN Deportes will broadcast MLB regular-season games in Puerto Rico and Mexico this season.
  • Formula 1 is launching F1 TV, which will serve as the sport’s OTT platform and represent F1’s largest investment to date into its digital properties. Live streams will run ad-free and will include multi-language commentary. Subscribers will also be able to watch the FIA Formula 2 Championship, GP3 Series, and Porsche Supercup, among others.

  • Pizza Hut has become the Official Pizza Sponsor of the NFL after the league ended its Pizza Hutpartnership with Papa John’s Pizza. The multi-year agreement will offer Pizza Hut a vast array of exclusive marketing rights.
  • ExxonMobil signed a multi-year marketing partnership with the Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, and Houston Rockets. ExxonMobil’s will keep being the “Official Motor Fuel of the National Basketball Association” in those markets.
  • Pacific Pro Football and adidas announced a multiyear partnership, becoming the exclusive footwear and apparel supplier for Pacific Pro’s inaugural four teams. Together with Pacific Pro Football, adidas will lead on all aspects of branding, marketing, and uniform design, as well as contribute to league development.

  • Mars

Mars Inc., an American global manufacturer of confectionery, pet food, and other food products and a provider of animal care services, has kicked off a global media agency review. Mars Inc. spends an estimated US$1.5 billion on measured media annually. Currently, Mars Inc.’s media planning is handled globally by MediaCom. Media buying is locally contracted, with Publicis Media’s Starcom, handling the majority of local markets, and Mediacom and OMD handling the rest. The three agencies will continue to be contracted to Mars throughout the period of the review and have been invited to participate in it. Mars review is aimed at integrating planning and buying with a single global partner. Media and marketing consultant ID Comms will assist the company with the review process.

  • Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut has appointed McCann Worldgroup as its’ new creative agency for Latin America and the Caribbean, following a formal review among seven agencies. McCann will develop integrated regional campaigns and will help deploy a new brand identity across the region, working with Pizza Hut Latin America Headquarters in Dallas. In 2017, Initiative won Pizza Hut media account.

 

  • Air Canada

The arrival of flight AC1942 at Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport marked the successful launch of Air Canada’s non-stop service between Montreal and Lima, Peru. The twice-weekly flights will be operated by Air Canada Rouge with 282-seat Boeing 767-300ER aircraft featuring Premium Rouge and Economy class service.Over the past five years Air Canada has increased capacity from Montreal by 83% and added 29 new destinations.This new route also leverages Montreal as a pivotal connection point for cargo. This new route will facilitate the flow of air freight between Lima and other key markets in Air Canada’s network, including Shanghai, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels and other major trade points.  The schedule provides for one of the best transit times available.Flights are time timed to optimize connectivity at Air Canada’s Montreal hub to and from the airline’s extensive network across North America and globally.

  • Bose

Bose has appointed WPP as its global agency to handle creative, media, localization, production and digital marketing, following a review. The business will be handled by a “custom-built team” of WPP shops, which were not identified by the company or agency.  The WPP team consists of creative shop Grey Group, digital agency Wunderman, marketing implementation unit Hogarth Worldwide and media agency MediaCom, Adweek has reported. Bose Corporation is a privately held American corporation, based in Framingham, Massachusetts, that designs, develops and sells audio equipment.

 

 

  • Mitsubishi Electric Corp

Ingersoll-Rand plc, a world leader in creating sustainable and efficient environments, and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, a leading manufacturer of technologically advanced ductless and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heating and air conditioning systems, are pleased to announce they have entered into an agreement to establish a 50 percent-50 percent joint venture (JV) pending global antitrust review.The new joint venture will include marketing, sales and distribution of ductless and VRF heating and air conditioning systems through Ingersoll Rand’s Trane and American Standard commercial and residential channels, and existing Mitsubishi Electric distributors and representatives in the United States and select countries in Latin America.The joint venture will be a leading provider of ductless and VRF systems in the United States and select countries in Latin America. Pending favorable global antitrust reviews and customary closing conditions, the new joint venture is expected to be operational in the first half of 2018. A chief executive officer will be named from Mitsubishi Electric, a chief financial officer will be named from Ingersoll Rand, and the business will operate from headquarters in Suwanee, Georgia. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed and are not material.

  • Marriott International

Marriott International, Inc. announced that 2017 represented its most successful year for signing development contracts outside North America.Globally, at year end 2017, the company operated or franchised more than 6,500 hotels and over 1.25 million rooms, with a third of the rooms located outside North America. Marriott International and its franchisees opened more than 470 hotels with over 76,000 rooms around the world during the year, amplifying the company’s brand recognition among guests, owners and franchisees.In 2017, the company signed more than 750 contracts for new hotels representing nearly 125,000 rooms under long‐term management and franchise agreements. Its global pipeline grew to a record 460,000 rooms, with over half located outside of North America.Interest grew in the Caribbean and Latin American region with 19 hotel openings with a record 37 signed deals in 2017.

Comcast and creative agency Grupo Gallegos launched a bilingual campaign to promote the fact that the Xfinity X1 Voice remote works in both Spanish and English. By saying a command into the remote, consumers are able to toggle between English and Spanish. A TV spot (see below) has the tagline, “beautifully bilingual, como tú,” (beautifully bilingual, like you) .The campaign launched during the 2016 edition of Telemundo’s Latin American Music Awards on October 6 and will continue to run up to the Latin Grammy ceremony this Thursday in Las Vegas ad the last weeks of Univision’s reality show “La Banda” on December 11th. In print the campaign will be activated in the December/January issue of People en Español.

  • Constellation Brands

The agreement, which also includes a sponsorship of the Brooklyn Nets, features three individually branded bars at Barclays Center, “official beer” marketing designations and a wide-ranging array of marketing assets.The new marketing alliance between Constellation Brandsand Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment has designated Corona Extra as the Official Import Beer Sponsor of Barclays Center, Modelo Especial as the Official Import Beer Sponsor of the Brooklyn Nets, and Ballast Point as an Official Craft Beer Sponsor of Barclays Center. 437718Lexus has announced the Launch of New Music Series and Live Music Showcase “VIDALEXUS Presenta: RPM – Reengineering Popular Music.” VidaLexus RPM is a weekly web series that takes audiences on a musical journey, exploring different Latin music genres. The series follows Latin pop singer Raquel Sofia as she travels to four U.S. cities  – Miami, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles – to learn more about the types of Latin music that have had a strong a cultural presence in each region. The journey begins November 7 in Miami with Son Cubano, followed by a stop in New York to explore Salsa.  Created and produced by Lexus, RPM is part of an ongoing effort to engage the Latino community and celebrate the diversity of current and future drivers. RPM will be released on ImpreMedia’s network of websites, including LaOpinion.com, LaRaza.com, LaPrensa.com, and ElDiarioNY.com.

descarga-4Johnnie Walker’s new campaign Keep Walking America celebrates the cultural progress and diversity that represents the fabric of America today through a collection of stories.The lyrics of “This Land Is Your Land,” read in both English and Spanish, serve as the campaign’s anthem. The film was shot over two weeks and features real storylines of progress from Los Angeles, Santa Fe, Montana, New Orleans, Baltimore, New York and Washington DC.This spirit of possibility and commitment to progress will inform all Johnnie Walker brand activity, including Flavors of America, a new cocktail program that highlights the stories and cross-cultural backgrounds of the American bartending community. It will feature modern cocktail recipes inspired by the holidays, traditions and authentic cultural flavors that have influenced the diverse group of bartenders involved in the program. Agency Anomaly NY was behind the effort. Carat handles media for Diageo’s Johnnie Walker.

 

  • Delta

htivxr-b_400x400Delta airline is launching its’ first branded campaign for the airline’s SkyMiles program together with its agency DigitasLBi Atlanta, according to Mediapost.  The “Go See With SkyMiles” creative effort includes a video featuring the backs of various people as they walk through landscapes and locations. The voiceover suggests how Delta can make these scenes a reality.   “Curiosity” will be featured on Delta In-Flight entertainment screens, Delta owned social channels, and Delta.com.

  • Kia

descarga-5 Kia will once again advertise in the Super Bowl. The auto brand confirmed that it will return to the game for the eighth straight year when Fox airs Super Bowl LI on Feb. 5. Agency-of-record David&Goliath will handle the creative work.Kia is the first automaker to confirm a Super Bowl ad buy. Toyota, which had appeared in five straight games, is not coming back for Super Bowl LI, which will be played in Houston.In addition to Kia, auto brands that ran 2016 Super Bowl ads included Acura, Buick, Honda, Hyundai, Jeep and Mini.
 

  • Ikea

Ikea U.S. is helping people celebrate Friendsgiving, the meeting where friends gather for a Thanksgiving meal before the actual holiday. Developed with agencies MEC Wavemaker and production company InHouse, IKEA is giving Friendsgiving kits to Uber users in New York City’s five boroughs. IKEA will raise awareness through its owned and paid social channels. Then, riders will be prompted again on November 19 to find the custom IKEA option in the app to request the IKEA Friendsgiving kit. They will receive IKEA dining products and holiday ingredients for six if they are one of the 200 users connected to a car carrying this package between 11 a.m.-2 p.m. ET. Outside of New York City, IKEA is working with food and social influencer Katie Quinn and Oh Happy Day lifestyle blogger Jordan Ferney to share videos (see below) on IKEA’s owned channels that demonstrate how to prepare meals using the kit’s contents.

  • Pizza Hut
