WPP’s JWT chairman-CEO Gustavo Martinez is no longer part of the agency. He will be replaced by Tamara Ingram, currently chief client team officer at WPP. Martinez is out after CCO at JWT Erin Johnson, chief communications officer at JWT, filed lawsuit claiming that Mr. Martinez made multiple “racist and sexist slurs.”
Noticias Telemundo announced the addition of journalist and anchor Luis Carlos Vélez as co-anchor of “Noticiero Telemundo Fin de Semana” alongside journalist Felicidad Aveleyra, starting this Saturday, March 19 at 5 PM E/4 C. Vélez will replace journalist Edgardo Del Villar, who will continue with Telemundo as a member of its award-winning news team.Prior to joining Telemundo, Vélez was news director and anchor for Noticias Caracol in Colombia. He was also a reporter and anchor at CNN International and CNN en Español, based in New York City.
Telemundo Phoenix / KTAZ has announced that Paola Morales has been named Multi-Media Journalist for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona, which airs weekdays at 4:30 PM, 5 PM and 10 PM and is simulcast on Telemundo Tucson / KHRR. Morales will join an enterprising team of journalists to deliver the live, local breaking news and information that is important to the Hispanic community in Arizona. Morales, who has worked as a freelancer for Telemundo Tucson for the past six months, has vast experience in reporting for Hispanic audiences all throughout Arizona. Prior to joining Telemundo, Morales worked as a reporter for Azteca America’s local television in Tucson and for the radio station La Poderosa 105.3 FM. Morales earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Science from Universidad de Sonora in Mexico. She resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
Andres Ordonez has been named chief creative officer at Energy BBDO. Prior to this appointment, Ordonez was the global lead on Wrigley.Mr. Ordonez has extensive multicultural experience and began his career at Ruiz Nicoli in Spain and then moved to BBDO Puerto Rico.
Publicis’ MRY Agency has made some adjustments. Most of the changes hit the Publicis agency’s New York headquarters, where all departments were involved, according to Agencyspy. At least 30 employees would leave and the share of total staff affected is between 25 and 30 percent.The news follows the recently departures of multiple executives. MRY became part of Starcom MediaVest and merged with DigitasLBi in recent years but was left out of statements regarding Publicis Groupe’s recent restructuring announcement. The agency will continue operating as before and will reassign many of its remaining employees.

Univision Communications Inc.has announced that Jed Meyer has joined the company as executive vice president, Corporate Research. Meyer will be based in New York and will report to Jessica Rodriguez, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of UCI, who oversees the Company’s Corporate Research team.Meyer joins Univision from Annalect, an Omnicom Media Group Company, where he served as Global Research director and U.S. Research director, responsible for leading the firm’s research capabilities and articulating insights across global accounts.
In addition, Roberto Ruiz, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Insights, will also report to Rodriguez and remain based in New York. Rodriguez assumes this new charge from Kevin Conroy, who has chosen to step down to pursue new opportunities in the technology sector. Conroy will work closely with both Meyer and Rodriguez over the next few weeks to support the transition.
Univision News, the news division of Univision Communications, Inc. (UCI), has announced the promotion of Daniel Coronell to president of News. He will continue to be based in Miami and report to Isaac Lee, Chief News and Digital Officer for UCI, and CEO of FUSION. Coronell first joined the Univision News team in early 2011 as Vice President and News Director; in 2012 he was named Senior Vice President and Executive News Director, and in 2014 to his most recent position as Executive Vice President and Executive Director of News. He is an internationally renowned investigative journalist with over 20 years of experience in broadcast and print media in his native Colombia. He previously served as director of “Noticias Uno,” a national newscast airing on Colombia’s Canal Uno television network.
TELEMUNDO has announced the appointment of Luis Fernández to Executive Vice President of Network News, reporting to Luis Silberwasser, President of TELEMUNDO. Fernández replaces Luis Carlos Vélez who will join Telemundo News as a news anchor and senior correspondent. Fernández will oversee the network news operations and manage editorial direction, programming and production of all news properties. Digilant, a global programmatic buying company, has announced the appointment of Alan Osetek as its new Global CEO. Osetek will oversee all operations in Spain and in the other seven markets in which Digilant operates (Chile, Colombia, United States, Italy, Mexico, Peru and the United Kingdom), and the progress of its technological solutions both in DMP (Data Management Platform) and DSP (Demand Side Platform). Prior to this appointment Osetek was global president of Resolution Media, a company of Omnicom Media Group.
MundoMax, the newly-rebranded U.S.-based Spanish-language broadcast network wholly owned and operated by media conglomerate RCN Television Group, has announced the appointment of Jose I. Molina to Interim President. Mr. Molina, who will also retain the title of Chief Financial Officer, replaces Ibra Morales, who has stepped down as President to pursue other interests. Mr. Molina joined MundoMax as CFO last October.Prior to joining MundoMax, Mr. Molina served for 14 years at Spanish Broadcasting System, most recently as Vice President of Finance.
Zenith Optimedia’s Tim Jones will serve as regional CEO for the Americas. Mr. Jones has served as CEO of media agency network Zenith Optimedia in North America.

Lou Rossi will continue to serve as U.S. CEO at Zenith and Lisa Donohue will continue as U.S. CEO for Starcom until a successor is named. All U.S. brand leadership will report into Tim Jones, CEO of Americas.
Publicis also moved Laura Desmond, who has served as global CEO of Starcom Mediavest Group and its individual brands, into a new chief revenue officer role.
Homero Martinez is the new General Manager at Al Dia Dallas, the Belo Newspapers owned Spanish-language publication. Martinez will take over the functions of Al Dia Dallas previous publisher Penni Barton who left Al Dia Dallas on January 2nd. Vicente Jubes, until recently CEO at Medula Networks, has departed the online ad network targeting the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American marketplace.
Award-winning journalist Roberto Ruiz has been named anchor of Azteca America’s two flagship nightly newscasts, Hechos Nacional Tarde, airing at 6:30 P.M. EST, and Hechos Nacional Noche, airing at 11:00 p.m. EST. Both newscasts will be aired exclusively in the United States and will focus on the national and international news and events that affect U.S. Hispanics. Prior to this new role, Ruiz was news anchor for Azteca America’s national news program Azteca America West Coast. Ruiz is a prominent Mexican journalist who began his professional career in 2004 as a reporter at the noted Mexican newspaper, “El Informador.” Ruiz then joined Canal 7 of Jalisciense de Radio y Televisión as the channel’s morning news reporter. In 2007, Ruiz joined TV Azteca, Guadalajara, as the morning news anchor and later was promoted to the anchor desk of the station’s flagship news program. A year later, he took the reigns at Azteca 7’s news program, “Info 7 Tarde.”In 2009, Ruiz was named news anchor for Azteca America’s news edition airing in Nevada, Texas, Florida and California. A year later, he took the helm at Azteca America’s national news program.

Previously, Mr. Mankita was a Marketing Manager with Univision Enterprises, the in-house incubator of Univision Communications, where he was an integral team member in launching multiple products in financial services, healthcare, automotive and telecommunications. A 15+ year veteran of media and the US Hispanic market, he earned his degree in Communication Studies from UCLA and his MBA from Thunderbird, the Graduate School of International Management.

McDonald’s Chief Executive Don Thompson is leaving his post effective March 1 and will be replaced by McDonald’s veteran Steve Easterbrook, currently chief brand officer.An to turn around McDonald’s ailing business.Mr. Thompson’s departure follows a round of layoffs earlier this month at the company’s headquarters that resulted in the loss of 63 jobs, part of an effort to cut costs by US $100 million. Mr. Thompson is a longtime executive who joined the company in 1990 and in 2006 was named president of U.S. operations.In 2010 was tapped as president of the corporation.
