  • LATAM Airlines Group

LATAM Airlines Group, Latin America’s leading airline group with one of the largest route networks in the world, announced a yearlong collaboration with The Bucket List Family, a family of five, including three small children, who travel the world together documenting and sharing their adventures. The family will travel with LATAM Airlines throughout the South American region, checking off places from their bucket list with some of the most popular destinations in the region.In addition, LATAM is bridging a partnership between The Bucket List Family and TECHO, a nonprofit organization that seeks to overcome the poverty situation that millions of people live in across Latin America through the joint work of its inhabitants and young volunteers.During a yearlong adventure, LATAM will take the family to key destinations in South America to explore the variety of cultures, and via their partnership with TECHO, present the family with the opportunity to give back to the communities by collaborating with local leaders and share their efforts and accomplishments for building better communities.The Bucket List Family will begin its tour in March of 2019, running through 2020. They are expected to visit Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Peru.

 

 

  • DogHero

Brazilian pet care app, DogHero, has received a US$7 million from Rover. A U.S. pet-sitting marketplace named Rover led a US$7 million round for Brazilian pet care app, DogHero.As Rover’s international influence grows, it’s the first time the Seattle-based company invested not only in Brazil but also Latin America. Mexican VC firm, IGNIA Partners, also contributed in hopes of expanding service across the region.Known as the “Brazilian Airbnb for pet-sitting,” DogHero is a marketplace for pet owners based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Over the last five years, DogHero has raised around US$13 million while securing a staff of 58. Approximately 800,000 pets plus 16,000 hosts and walkers belong to DogHero’s network. Today, the startup operates in 750 cities in Brazil, Argentina, plus Mexico.Rover is one of Seattle’s most valuable startups with 475 employees, new headquarters, as well as booming business in Europe and potentially Latin America.

 

  • Holiday Inn Express

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) announced the opening of the newly-built 116-room Holiday Inn Express Asunción Aviadores hotel located in the business and commercial district of Paraguay’s capital city. The property will be the first Holiday Inn Express hotel in Paraguay and the second IHG brand in the country, joining the Crowne Plaza Asunción.As IHG’s largest and fastest growing hotel brand globally, Holiday Inn Express currently has 85 properties located throughout Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean. IHG has 239 hotels across all brands and more than 40,216 rooms throughout Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • NewCo

NewCo has unveiled its new global structure. In a move that underscores its commitment to cost efficiency, the new GroupM agency formed by MEC and Maxus will remove existing regional management structures. NewCo will not be run at the APAC, EMEA or LATAM levels. Instead, the firm’s top eight global markets that compromise 70 percent of its revenues will report directly to MEC global CEO Tim Castree.  NewCo will be able to lean on GroupM at the regional level for operational support. Remaining regional capabilities will now either move in-market or within client solutions groups. There will also be a new centralized global services structure made up of three groups.

 

 

  • Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines has launched service to Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport from two major California hubs: San Francisco International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. Later this fall, Alaska Airlines will also add service from San Diego International Airport to Mexico City, becoming the only airline to serve Mexico City from all three California gateways. The launch to Mexico City kicks off the most significant network expansion in Alaska Air Group’s 85-year history with 29 new routes launching through the end of 2017.The new service is the ninth destination Alaska serves to Mexico from California, including Cancun, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Loreto, Los Cabos, Manzanillo, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announces the opening of the Holiday Inn Express Tuxpan hotel in Veracruz, Mexico.  The Holiday Inn Express Tuxpan hotel is owned and managed by Grupo Inmobiliario Ricsher, S.A. de C.V and is franchised by an affiliate of IHG. The property is part of IHG’s diverse family of brands in nearly 100 countries and territories.   • LG Electronics

Ogilvy Mexico, the agency led by Verónica Hernández and Checha Agost Carreño, has expanded its business relationship with giant LG electronics. From now on, Ogilvy Mexico will take over digital communications and social networks of the renowned Korean global technology brand. In Mexico, LG comprises 4 business units (Home Entertainment, Mobile Communications, White Line & Air Conditioning and Business Solutions). Ogilvy Mexico will continue handling PR for LG Mexico.

descarga (2)Ikea, a multinational group of companies that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture appliances and home accessories, has concluded a media agency review which began in March, completing the global phase of the process and consolidating its roster of media agencies to two holding companies: GroupM and Dentsu Aegis Network.The firm spends around US$435 million annually on ads worldwide. Regional IKEA units will select a media partner from among the GroupM or Dentsu Aegis brands. Both holding companies already work with IKEA in many markets.

  • Swarovski

descarga (3)Swarovski, producer of luxury cut lead glass, has appointed Havas Media to handle its global media business following a review from Jan. 1, 2017. Publicis Groupe’s Zenith is the incumbent.The account now covers more than 35 countries with a focus on the U.S., China, the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, Canada, Spain, Mexico and Brazil. The account will include all media duties, including social and programmatic.

  • Mexico Tourism Board

descargaLourdes Berho of IWF Mexico was named CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board. She was previously the CEO of Conde Nast for Mexico and Latin America from 2004 to 2008, and she also served as vice president of commercialization for Grupo Banamex. She will assume the role of CEO for the Mexico Tourism Board on July 1st. She brings 25 years of experience in management, marketing, luxury travel, publishing and sustainable tourism to the role.

  • Copa Airlines

descarga (2)Copa Airlines announced they will begin direct nonstop flights between the airline’s Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Panama and the historic city of Chiclayo, Peru. The airline’s twice-weekly flights will increase connectivity between northern Peru and Copa’s extensive route network, which consists of 74 destinations in 31 countries in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.Copa’s new Panama-Chiclayo flight has the potential to generate tourism and trade between this interesting city and the rest of the American continent.Copa Airlines’ new flight launches as the number of Panamanian tourists visiting Peru is on the rise.  Flights between Panama and Chiclayo are timed to offer the most convenient connections to the Peruvian city from major cities on the continent, including Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., in the United States; Havana, Cuba; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Bogota, Barranquilla and Cartagena, Colombia; and other major cities of Central, North and South America and the Caribbean.
