What: Impremedia’s El Diario has revealed a new service-oriented and news content oriented editorial product .

image001image002ImpreMedia, the Hispanic news and information company in the United States, has unveiled a new reader product for its brand, El Diario, the nation’s longest-publishing Spanish-language daily newspaper, with a renewed commitment to better address the needs of the Latino community and continue to serve as “El Campeón de los Hispanos,” (The Champion of Hispanics).

The new look of El Diario publication reflects impreMedia’s commitment to invest in its core brands and increase reader engagement.

The new El Diario provides an even more compelling reader experience and reflects the integration of social media into every page.
 

Main attributes featured in the new El Diario:

  • Emphasis on five key editorial and service-oriented categories: News; You and Your Family; Money and Jobs; Sports; and Entertainment; tips and recommendations, useful guides and how-to’s;
  • Original and more flexible content structure of interest to the New York Latino community : including education, immigration, health, housing, small business, jobs,  news about their native Latin American countries and communities, and much more;
  • An improved sports section : Covering soccer (fútbol) around the world, New York’s professional sports teams, and area youth athletics;
  • New format:incorporating social media commentary, more coverage and stories across multiple platforms,  reflecting the way readers assimilate information on digital and mobile platforms.
  • New cover design: featuring  engaging photographs and a new logo.

HBO Latin America announced the appointment of Vincent Cordero to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) beginning this Novembericer . As COO, he will be responsible for the company areas including Technology, Legal, Finance and Human Resources, reporting to Gaston Comas, CEO.

Jaime Guerra has been appointed Managing Director for IMS Social. Guerra will be in charge of overseeing all Twitter´s operations in Latin America. IMS has been working with Twitter for the last 13 months and has offices in Miami, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, and Bogota. Also has partners in Lima, Quito, and Santo Domingo. Juan Varela also has been tapped as the new Content Director. All three join impreMedia’s Executive Committee and report directly to Francisco Seghezzo, COO.

Discovery Networks Latin America has named Nicolás Mc Cormack Advertising & Sales VP for the South Cone. Mc Cormack will be based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Coca Cola Femsa has announced John Santa María Otazua as its new CEO. The executive starts working as CEO the 1st of January, 2014. Carlos Salazar has been named General Director of the company and José Antonio Fernandez Carbajal will continue to work as Executive President.  Coca Cola Femsa produce and distribute Coca-Cola´s brands in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina.

Johnson & johnson has hired Coca-Cola´s CMO in North America, Alison Lewis as its new global CMO. Lewis will report to chairman Lynn Pendergrass. In her current role Lewis oversees more than $600 million in ad spend. According to Kantar Media.

Twitter has appointed Vivian Schiller as head of news. Schiller comes from NBC News, where she leded the network’s digital division.

As COO, he will be responsible for the company areas including Technology, Legal, Finance and Human Resources, reporting to Gaston Comas, CEO. With industry experience from Univision and Fox Deportes, Mr. Cordero brings keen expertise to the HBO Latin America operation.

 

Jack Kliger was named CEO of TV Guide magazine. For the past three years, he has worked as a paid consultant to the magazine. Kliger is a former president and CEO of Hachette Filipacchi Media in the U.S. and also served as senior VP of Conde Nast Publications.

Vivian Schiller was named to the newly created position of head of news partnerships at Twitter. She is currently chief digital officer at NBC News and will join Twitter in January. Her appointment had been previously reported citing sources, but Twitter has now confirmed it on its own Twitter account, after Schiller announced it on her Twitter account.

Nicolas Valls was named executive VP, ad sales at HempishereMedia Group. He was most recently senior VP, network sales at Univision.

NuvoTVEnglish-language entertainment network NUVOtv announced that Laura Masse has joined the network as Executive Vice President, Marketing.In this newly-created position, Masse will oversee all marketing for the network, including brand strategy, creative services, on-air promotion, consumer marketing, corporate communications as well as the network’s digital presence across platforms. She is based in Los Angeles and reports to Michael Schwimmer, Chief Executive Officer, NUVOtv.

 

John Halley was promoted to executive VP and COO of ad sales for Viacom Media Networks. He was previously senior VP, ad sales finance and sales business intelligence. He will report to Jeff Lucas, head of sales, music and entertainment; Jim Perry, head of sales, Nickelodeon Group; and Rich Eigendorff, COO of Viacom Media Sales. In his new role, Halley will be responsible for the company’s pricing and inventory, commercial operations, finance and business intelligence functions for Viacom Media Networks’ linear and digital operations.

Tim Spengler joins Clear Channel Media as Head Of Content Marketing. The longtime media agency executive, most recently CEO of Magna Global and prior to that president of Initiative, has joined the media company in the newly created role of president of content marketing and revenue strategy. Spengler will be responsible for developing new media and advertising opportunities using all of Clear Channel’s media and entertainment assets.

Adriana Ruiz Lopez  is leaving her position as account supervisor at Edelman Multicultural  to pursue a broader marketing opportunity.

As Executive Vice President and General Manager, East Ruiz-Jiménez is responsible for the National Sales, Marketing and Advertising Solutions departments and oversees the development of impreMedia’s El Diario La Prensa in New York, La Raza in Chicago and La Prensa in Orlando. Ruiz-Jiménez most recently co-founded and served as Executive Vice- President of Wireless Idea, a mobile services company that creates and distributes digital content products. He previously held senior marketing and sales positions with PepsiCo and Diageo North America where he led multicultural, national and international marketing efforts and implemented innovative brand and sales growth strategies.

In his new role as General Manager, West, Damian Mazzotta oversees the development of impreMedia properties La Opinión in Los Angeles, El Mensajero in San Francisco and Rumbo in Houston. Mazzotta began with impreMedia developing the 2013 consumer  marketing plans and was promoted to VP, Business Development. Within his first year Mazzotta successfully launched numerous brand name products including partnerships with ESPN Deportes, Disney Publishing and TV celebrity chefs to leverage the engagement with impreMedia´s audiences in Los Angeles and New York.

In his new role as Content Editor, Juan Varela will play a central role in impreMedia’s ongoing transformation from the largest Spanish-language newspaper holding company in the country to the leading provider of multiplatform content, news and marketing solutions for the U.S. Hispanic market. Varela will be responsible for content creation across all of impreMedia’s platforms including newspapers, magazines, custom publishing, and digital properties. He brings more than 20 years of editorial, news and content creation with some of the most important media organizations throughout the U.S. and Spanish-speaking Americas.
