The partnership will also be executed across Harley’s top 12 country markets, which includes the U.S., Brazil, France, DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Italy, UK, Australia, India, Japan and China. Publicis Groupe’s Starcom and Digitas are also no longer on Harley’s agency roster.

 

  • ESPN/Rio 2016 Olympic Games

nnnESPN has unveiled its roster of major pan-regional sponsors for ESPN’s coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Gillette, Issey Miyake Parfums, Marriott and Samsung Electronics are among the brands that will be showcased across ESPN networks throughout Latin America and the Caribbean during its more than 2,800 hours of multimedia coverage of Rio 2016. ESPN will bring fans closer to Rio 2016 by allowing brands to enhance their messaging and connect with consumers across the region via ESPN’s highly-localized content.In addition, local advertisers will be featured in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Central America.ESPN digital platforms will complement the television coverage with daily news, updates, and immediate video reporting and results. ESPN’s social media channels will also feature special content with dedicated reporters onsite.

 

 

  • Nacional Monte de Piedad

MQprj7nM_400x400Initiative, IPG Mediabrands’ global communication network and part of Interpublic Group, welcomes its new client Nacional Monte de Piedad, I.A.P. Nacional Monte de Piedad was founded in 1775 and has become the oldest financial institution in the Americas. IAP is a Private Assistance Institution which has over 320 branches across the country and helps those in need through car loans, financial services and investment. The initiative’s team will work together with IAP’s marketing team within the institution to conduct marketing activities and brand products. The team will also handle consulting and analysis of traditional online and offline media.

 

 

  • Aeromexico

Aeromexico, Mexico’s global airline, announced its plan to add more frequencies on five of its principal international routes during summer 2017.The carrier will significantly increase flights to Amsterdam, London, Madrid, Shanghai, and Santiago on a weekly basis. In Europe, Aeromexico will offer daily flights from Mexico City to Amsterdam and London Heathrow. The carrier will also increase its seat capacity to Madrid by 15%, giving a total of 12 flights per week.The airline is also planning to increase its service to Asia by more than 65%, which gives Shanghai five flights per week. In South America, a daily service to Santiago, Chile, will also be added to the current service of five flights per week.All these new frequencies are already available in our different sales channels.

descargaWPP’s global marketing agency Grey has acquired a majority stake in Ecuadorian full-service communications firm Maruri Publicidad SA, according to M&M Global. Maruri is a market leader in Ecuador, with gross revenues of almost US$10m in December 2015.Based in Guayaquil with an office in Quito, it works with clients including DIRECTV and SABMiller.The acquisition comes as part of WPP’s strategy to invest in faster-growing markets such as Latin America.

 

  • Nissan

9MmPsdT1Nissan reportedly paid about US$250 million to sponsor the games, a campaign that highlights its recent investment in Brazil and a brazen bet that the country’s battered economy is on the verge of recovery. The company is using the games to unveil a new compact sport utility vehicle, the first time any major automaker, Nissan included, has ever used Brazil to launch a model destined for a global market.The CUV, called the Kicks, was conceived with the help of Nissan’s Rio design team.Nissan hopes to sell 50,000 Kicks in Latin America in the next 12 months. The price for a fully loaded model starts at about 85,000 reais (us$26,850). For now, Nissan will import the new CUVs from Mexico. Then the company plans to add production at its new 2.6 billion reais factory in Resende, an industrial town 160 km northwest of Rio. The company introduced a campaign on TV and online featuring Huck, a high-profile Brazilian talk-show host. Most of it is typical, factory-tour stuff, but in one stunt, Huck whisked an unsuspecting 22-year-old Brazilian salesman out of the Rio airport to Japan, where they eat sushi, try to sell perfumed Brazilian panties on the streets of Tokyo, and eventually tour a Nissan factory.

Coca Cola is activating the 2016 Rio Olympic #ThatsGold Campaign. Broadcasters NBC and Telemundo are featuring #ThatsGold throughout the Games. Digitally #ThatsGold will be threaded throughout the NBC Olympics website featuring live updates from Rio. All this, will be supported by OOH, Cinema, and Retail activation. The campaign will also be social in nature, featuring a series of three video vignettes, produced in partnership with NBC, that focus on some of the happiest and most triumphant moments enjoyed by athletes. Toyota continues to celebrate the Corolla’s 50th anniversary across the U.S., and is made a stop at the 2016 “Celebrando Latinas” conference taking place August 6, 2016, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in San Diego, California. fkzXsoN__400x400Ford Motor Company is launching its most aggressive Snapchat ad campaign to-date, centered around the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. However, Ford is not being an official sponsor and is not permitted to use any of the Olympic Committee’s protected phrases.According to Automotive News, the campaign will feature the 2017 Ford Escape crossover , and will consist of more than thirty 10-second Snap ads. The spots will be unmistakably Olympic-themed, without encroaching upon the Committee’s restrictions. The campaign will be an extension of Ford’s recent string of Escape ads which feature the phrase: “Life is a Sport. We are the Utility.”Automotive News reports that Ford is being so cautious with regard to the US Olympic Committee’s list of protected phrases that Digital Marketing Manager Lisa Schoder didn’t so much as use the word “Olympic” at any point during a recent interview. The automaker is being very mindful of What is happening in culture to identify opportunities that align with its brand promise, says Lisa Schoder. Broadcast and digital launch Aug. 5 and will be joined by a Snapchat lens, launching Aug. 13. This is the first time Ford has ever purchased a sponsored lens, according to Mediapost.  For 24 hours, Ford’s lens will enable U.S. Snapchat users to paint their face in a red, white and blue design and activate a confetti shower.On Twitter, Ford will share more than 200+ pieces of real-time content based on its SUV brand personality, using emojis and GIFs tied to different sports over the duration of the competition using the @Ford handle.

Honda is introducing a new integrated marketing campaign to promote the completely redesigned 2017 Honda Ridgeline, now available in dealerships nationwide, featuring creative from the Academy-award nominated stop-motion artist PES. Launching online as a sneak peek ahead of its official debut during the Summer Games in Rio, the multi-channel campaign is led by a new 60-second TV spot, “The Power of Ridgeline,” that showcases the versatility and comfort of the all-new Honda pickup truck.The new campaign features a strong experiential presence, as well as print and out of home media activations, social media programming, digital media and original content that showcases some of the pickup’s most unique features..Honda also has launched a new Hispanic marketing campaign that debuted with the Ridgeline’s official sponsorship of the Univision Deportes’ broadcast of “Campeón de Campeones,” the emblematic Mexican soccer championship match between the winners of the two most recent Liga MX seasons that took place in Los Angeles and aired on Univision. Sedano’s, which has 34 locations in the South Florida/Orlando area, wants to appeal to young people who face the same problem no matter what race or gender they may happen to be: nobody has time to cook! The TV spot will run in both English and Spanish. The campaign includes banner ads asking us how Latin we feel today and a “Latino Meter” that promises to measure just how spicy our personal flavor might be with questions like this one:

nnnPublicis is restructuring its 2 New York Health Agencies: Publicis Life Brands Medicus and Digitas Health.LifeBrands will be consolidated into one.The two agencies will continue to operate under their current names and share the same building. They will, however, operate as one when it comes to shared accounts. Publicis last week announced a major reorganization of its media agencies.

mbmbbIn perfect time for Illinois primary, Latino-owned brewery 5 Rabbit Cervecería started bottling a limited run of its “Chinga tu Pelo,” a Latin-American insult that literally translates to “fuck your hair.”The beer was originally known as “Trump Golden Ale” but was rebranded after founder Andres Araya realized he did not want to brew for the Chicago Trump Tower after Trump’s inflammatory, racist comments about Mexican immigrants.

The 30-second “One Day” opens on a young boy playing in the driveway, whose ears perk up at the sound of a motorcycle. The brand aims to target a younger demographic with “One Day” clearly fits into that profile, though it isn’t targeted specifically at any one demographic.Future spots in the campaign will focus on new and recently launched Harley-Davidson models, such as the Forty-Eight, Iron 883 and  Street Glide Special.

  • Westin Hotels & Resorts

descarga (2)Westin Hotels & Resorts is promoting a new global and more energetic identity.The redesign seeks to mirror in the brand’s messaging “For a Better You” tagline.The Starwood Hotels & Resorts new identity includes new and brighter colors producing an editorial feel. Westin invested about US$1 million in its new brand identity.The company, which handled all aspects of the redesign in-house, including video production, was inspired by Instagram and studied other wellness brands for style ideas.The new look and feel will stretch across all hotel assets, from brochures and posters to stationery and key cards. The design will also mix into Westin’s social media efforts, and could find its way into some hotel sales and marketing materials.The brand expects its new visual language to live for at least five years and speak to a variety of consumers.

1casUGa3_400x400Harley-Davidson has relased its new campaign featuring real riders hanging out in drainage viaducts, doing donuts and wheelies, jumps, ice racing, and dirt racing on Street 750 motorcycles.The new effort includes TV, print ads, online ads, and social media. The broad theme, evoked by the #RollYourOwn social link, is that not only are H-D riders different, but what they do on their bikes is not what you think. The 60-second launch ad shows, among other things, footage of Street 750 dirt and ice racing during the winter and summer ESPN X Games. The ad has double-entendre headlines and Twitter links for each piece of footage: “Man Cave” for the guys in the viaducts; “Fast Tracker” for a racing-tuned Street; “Ice Carving” for the footage of the X Games ice racer; “Hang Over” for a guy doing jumps; and “Morning Donut” for a guy doing donut spins; and black market for what he spelled out on the pavement, US$99, the monthly nut for a Street 750. The ads were co-developed and shot by Minneapolis-based Wolfes LLC. The two TV spots broke March 4 and will continue to air on NCAA Men’s Basketball, as well as on theCHIVE and Heavy.com. Also as part of the campaign, fans and riders are encouraged to share their “Roll Your Own” experiences across Harley-Davidson’s social channels using the #RollYourOwn tag-line.Harley-Davidson also is readying another campaign with partner Marvel, around the forthcoming “Avengers, Age Of Ultron,” which kicks off March 6.

LOGO_MODELO_2__400x400Modelo Especial, one of the fast-growing beer brand in America, will soon break its first national English-language campaign as it seeks to grow beyond its loyal base of Hispanic drinkers.The campaign, which includes two TV ads, continues a tagline the brand has had in place for a while that encourages consumers to “discover the Especial.” One TV spot describes the brew as a “high-quality, honest beer,” while touting its clear bottle that “shows off its character.”The goal is to introduce the brand to a wider audience. Modelo Especial edged out Heineken, which posted US$739 million in sales after 3% growth during the period.The move comes after Constellation late last year shifted creative ad duties on Modelo from Omnicom’s Goodby Silverstein & Partners to WPP’s Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago. But for the new TV ads, Constellation used a production company that made the ads based on a brand “manifesto” developed by Goodby and La Comunidad, which remains Modelo’s Hispanic agency. Horizon is Modelo’s Media Buying Agency.

 

      • Safelite AutoGlass

Previously, the business had been handled by Ron Foth Advertising, which also creates ads for Safelite, including social media marketing. Foth continues as lead creative agency.Safelite’s media spending totaled nearly US$30 million in 2013 and about US$23 million in the first nine months of last year, according to Kantar Media. The assignment spans traditional and digital media, including social media.

      • Johnnie Walker

imagesJohnnie Walker’s premier Blue Label blend has unveiled a prototype “smart bottle” that enables the brand to send targeted, personalized marketing messages to consumers.Printed sensor tags in the bottle’s label have technology called OpenSense, which uses smartphones’ near field communication (NFC) capabilities.Whether they’ve invested in a bottle, or are simply lingering near one in a store, consumers can read the tags with any NFC-enabled smartphone to see promotional offers, cocktail recipes or branded content.The technology, created by Norwegian printed electronics company Thinfilm with Diageo Technology Ventures, was introduced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.The technology also lets Diageo track bottles’ movements across the supply chain, in stores and wherever it’s being consumed, and detect whether a bottle is open or still sealed.The prototype bottle is the first initiative to come out of Diageo Technology Ventures.

Radio ShackRadioShack is launching a new marketing campaign this week under the“Do It Together (DIT)” tagline.  The campaign will be based on consumer experiences that have differentiated RadioShack and create an emotional connection with its’ associates. RadioShack ushered in the company’s new brand positioning with a 30-second ad featuring ’80s icons during last night’s Super Bowl. The ad is ment to shed outdated perceptions of the brand for consumers in need of a reintroduction to RadioShack.  The spot opens in a throwback RadioShack store; an associate receives a warning phone call before familiar ’80s personalities, including Hispanic celebrity Erik Estrada. In an effort to continue “clearing out the ’80s” and celebrate #InWithTheNew, RadioShack is also hosting a 24-hour sweepstakes via Twitter, which launched in line with our Super Bowl ad.The campaign continues this week and will also target the Hispanic market with Spanish ads being featured in outlets such as Telemundo and Univision, as well as digital print and in-store promotions. Latinworks is RadioShack’s media buying agency. According to Kantar Media, Radio Shack spent $88 million on measured media in 2012.   • Abott (Republican Gubernatorial Candidate in Texas)

Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott launched a Spanish-language website, targeted at Hispanic voters. The website sees a new version of his campaign logo: Abbott Para Gobernador. Abott’s campaign also introduced a Spanish-language Twitter accout. Abbott and his expected Democratic opponent, Wendy Davis, are both courting the Hispanic vote in a state that’s reliably Republican despite its growing minority population, which tends to identify with the Democratic Party. The gubernatorial hopefuls have both made campaign stops in South Texas and appeared on Spanish-language television, but the Abbott campaign’s Spanish-language website is the first during this election cycle.

  • Xoom

Xoom Corp.,the digital money transfer provider, introduced three new TV commercials for the U.S. Hispanic market. The ads, targeting the Spanish-language audience, began airing on major Spanish-language TV in January and all speak to the message of mobile convenience.

  • Harley Davidson

Harley DavidsonThe 111-year-old motorcycle manufacturer announced Thursday that its fourth-quarter earnings were up about 10 percent compared with a year ago As its core customers age, Harley has diversified its marketing strategy by broadening its product appeal to women and Hispanic, black and younger riders. Maripat Blankenheim, director of external communications for Harley, said the company hired Mark-Hans Richer as chief marketing officer several years ago. Richer’s focus: pumping up sales by broadening the company’s reach. Looking at ways to introduce the brand to those key areas, Harley took a more aggressive stance in getting more people into dealerships.

  • WalMart

Walmart plans to close its one Más Club membership warehouse store that is located in Houston.The store at 8711 North Freeway carries more Hispanic-themed merchandise than does a traditional Sam’s Club, according to the Houston Chronicle. The store will close Feb. 7, Walmart’s director of communications Anne Hatfield said. Más Club opened as a test format in 2009, she said, and Walmart came to realize that it made more sense to incorporate its best working elements, including some of the merchandise, into traditional Sam’s Clubs in Houston and throughout the United States, the report said. There are six Sam’s Clubs within a six-mile radius of Más Club. The store’s 153 associates will be able to find work at an area Sam’s Club or Walmart, Hatfield said.
