WPP’s Wunderman announced today the appointment of Ian Sohn to president of the Chicago office. Sohn, who hails from SapientRazorfish, where he was most recently managing director of Chicago, is set to assume his new role on June 11.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Verizon announced on Friday that its current chief technology officer, Hans Vestberg, will succeed CEO Lowell McAdam in August.

 

 

 

 

 

 

More than two years after a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Gustavo Martinez upended the ad industry and two months following the settlement of said suit, WPP and the former JWT CEO have announced that they will go their separate ways.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Stitch Fix has brought Deirdre Findlay on board as the company’s chief marketing officer. Findlay joins from Google, where she served as senior director of global hardware marketing.

 

 

 

 

 

Jacqueline Hernandez, formerly of NBCUniversal, has been named President of Combate Americas. Hernandez will work with CEO Campbell McLaren on overseeing Combate Americas’s entire business as the company plans its expansion with the Hispanic fan base at its core.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heineken USA appointed Maggie Timoney as Chief Executive Officer. Timoney is joining Heineken USA from Heineken Ireland where she’s served as the CEO for the last five years.

 

 

 

 

 

Mark Creighton is leaving Dentsu Aegis Network as chief operating officer.  There are currently no plans to replace him. Creighton said he will be taking a break “and then determining what the next exciting new chapter will be for me”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Trefor ‘Tom’ Thomas has departed his post of chief creative officer at direct agency Lida to join Tug as its global chief creative officer. Thomas’  remit will be to expand creative output across the digital agency’s network of worldwide offices.

 

 

 

 

Independent media agency Medialab has announced that Stewart Easterbrook will be joining its board as chairman this month. Medialab has also made a number of other senior hires this year, including Steven Venes from John Ayling as broadcast director and Tony Oakley from MC&C becomes head of digital.

 

 

 

 

 

Phil Toms has joined Pilgrim, the agency launched by former Britvic marketing director Andrew Marsden last year. Kat Mitchell and Jason Vrakas, previously executive creative directors at You agency, have joined Pilgrim as well as executive creative director and head of art respectively.

 

 

 

 

 

In-house specialist OLIVER has appointed Lisa Bonney as its global chief marketing officer. Bonney’s remit is to develop and execute strategies that further cement OLIVER as the go-to in-house practitioner, while also supporting further international and organic growth.

 

 

 

 

 

Berlin Cameron, a WPP creative agency,  appointed Karen Flanagan as managing director.  Karen will be the primary point of contact for senior clients across the agency, as well as serving as the executive lead on Berlin Cameron’s premier account, Capital One.

Martinez is out after CCO at JWT Erin Johnson, chief communications officer at JWT, filed lawsuit claiming that Mr. Martinez made multiple “racist and sexist slurs.”

He was also a reporter and anchor at CNN International and CNN en Español, based in New York City.

 

 

aacd509541c8487a_orgTelemundo Phoenix / KTAZ has announced that Paola Morales has been named Multi-Media Journalist for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona, which airs weekdays at 4:30 PM, 5 PM and 10 PM and is simulcast on Telemundo Tucson / KHRR. Morales will join an enterprising team of journalists to deliver the live, local breaking news and information that is important to the Hispanic community in Arizona.  Morales, who has worked as a freelancer for Telemundo Tucson for the past six months, has vast experience in reporting for Hispanic audiences all throughout Arizona. Prior to joining Telemundo, Morales worked as a reporter for Azteca America’s local television in Tucson and for the radio station La Poderosa 105.3 FM. Morales earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Science from Universidad de Sonora in Mexico. She resides in Phoenix, Arizona.

descarga - copiaPublicis’ MRY Agency has made some adjustments. Most of the changes hit the Publicis agency’s New York headquarters, where all departments were involved, according to Agencyspy. At least 30 employees would leave and the share of total staff affected is between 25 and 30 percent.The news follows the recently departures of multiple executives. MRY  became part of Starcom MediaVest and merged with DigitasLBi in recent years but was left out of statements regarding Publicis Groupe’s  recent restructuring announcement. The agency will continue operating as before  and will reassign many of its remaining employees.

Latin3 has appointed Diego Muñoz as the new Country Manager for its Mexico offices.Diego Muñoz will be responsible for business strategies for the Latin3 Mexican clients, developing and implementing work plans to achieve profitable developments.

GroupM’s MediaCom unit this morning named James Morris the first global head of its burgeoning content marketing practice, the aptly named MediaCom Beyond Advertising.Morris, who previously was head of the unit’s operations in the EMEA region, will oversee an organization of 435 content marketing execs operating in 42 countries for such brands ad Volkswagen, Procter & Gamble, Sony, Universal Music and Shell.Morris, who is based in London, joined the unit in January 2011 from U.K. production company TwoFour, where he was director of digital strategy and content.Concurrent with Morris’ appointment, MediaCom said MBA’s regional and international leadership team would be comprised of: Palle Diederichsen (EMEA), Mark Fortner (head of innovation, MBA U.S.), Lizzie Nolan (APAC), Dan Brown (LATAM), Ortensia Castagno and Tom Curtis (U.K. and international), and Paul Chard (Global Content Officer).

Cisneros Media, the corporate division that encompasses the Cisneros’ media and entertainment businesses, announced the appointment of Juan Carlos Sosa as Executive Vice President of Operations of Venevision Studios, which incorporates all of the company’s production units. Sosa will report directly to Cisneros Media President Jonathan Blum.

Gustavo Martinez will become JWT’s global president and future successor to its chief executive, Bob Jeffrey. Martinez will take over as global president in February next year and assume Jeffrey’s role in 2015, when Jeffrey will become non-executive chairman. Martinez has been the president of McCann Worldgroup’s Europe and Asia regions and has also worked at Ogilvy & Mather in Argentina and for Saatchi & Saatchi. The only other non-American to have run JWT was Britain’s Chris Jones.

ZAGG, a mobile device accessories company, has hired three new professionals to strengthen its international sales efforts. Martin Anderson, Jean Fischer and Carolina Vasquez will direct the company’s international sales accounts, as well as specific efforts in France and South America.

Martin Anderson, ZAGG’s new international sales director, has more than 30 years of sales experience. Most recently, Anderson served as vice president of international sales at Built NY, Inc., a B2C company. Carolina Vasquez has been appointed Latin America sales manager. She has previously worked for Canon Latin America. And Jean Fischer will be based in France,  she will be in charge of expanding the company’s distribution in France and neighboring countries.

EVERTEC has appointed Eduardo Camargo as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Mr. Eduardo Camargo will be responsible for managing EVERTEC’s information technology organization and infrastructure. Mr. Camargo will report to Peter Harrington, EVERTEC’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Camargo’s career spans over 30 years in the Latin American financial services and payments industry. Mr. Camargo joins EVERTEC from Bank of America Merrill Lynch Brazil where he served as Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer for the last two years.
