  • Coca-Cola

Under its Leão brand, Coca-Cola Brazil has launched a range of yerba maté pods it says will meet Brazilian demand for practical and convenient healthy drinks. The capsules offer consumers a more convenient and practical way to prepare tea, according to the manufacturer. Compatible with Nespresso machines, the pods are available in three flavors: original yerba maté; blackberry, blueberry and vanilla; and passionfruit, orange and ginger. Leão said it sources the yerba maté from producers in southern Brazil while the herbs used in the Leão Senses range are imported mainly from Europe and Asia.Coca-Cola Brazil is the country’s biggest soft drink manufacturer, operating in nine segments: water, coffee, teas, soft drinks, nectars, juices, dairy products, sports drinks and vegetable drinks.Its portfolio includes 213 products, including regular, zero-calorie and low-calorie variations.Leão’s portfolio of brands includes the Leão tea and coffee range, Del Valle, Chimarrão Pampas and Powerade.

 

  • Chevron

Energy company Chevron has put its global media planning and buying business in review. WPP has been the brand´s incumbent for 16 years.  Two unnamed competitors will be pitching against the incumbent, aacording to a party close to the review . WPP currently handles global media for three of the world’s four largest fossil fuel companies, according to Adweek. The latter review resulted in the formation of dedicated unit Team Energy, which consists of Ogilvy, Grey, VML, Mindshare, Essence, SocialLabs and Landor.

 

 

 

  • Air France-KLM

Air France – KLM recently announced that LINKS Travel Trade, Marketing & Public Relations, a global communications agency specializing in the Tourism and Travel sector, has been named as the airline group’s agency of record (AOR). With deep knowledge in the Latin American and Caribbean markets, LINKS will develop Air France – KLM ‘s communications strategy specifically for the Mexico market beginning January 2019.LINKS Travel Trade, Marketing & Public Relations is headquartered in Miami with additional offices throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Los Angeles, México, New York, Panamá and Perú.

  • Norwegian

Low-cost transatlantic carrier Norwegian plans to introduce free onboard Wi-Fi and new flights in Mexico and South America. The new Wi-Fi will be available on the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and 737 MAX aircraft, with the first Wi-Fi-enabled Dreamliner having been delivered December 18, 2018. Norwegian said that more than 50 percent of its Dreamliner fleet would offer in-flight connectivity by 2020.This exclusive, invite-only event focused on the luxury travel market brings together world-class travel agency owners and managers with the most opulent, luxury suppliers to cultivate collaboration, share insights, and help carve a path into the future of luxury travel.

 

 

 

  • Copa Airlines

Copa Airlines is to further expand its network in South America with a new non-stop flight connecting Suriname with its Panama City hub.The carrier will initially operate the route to Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport in Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 July 2019, using Boeing 737-700 aircraft.Copa Airlines currently has an average of 350 daily flights through its hub at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, connecting more than 80 cities in 32 countries.Confirmation of Copa Airlines’ new route to Suriname comes just weeks after the airline finalized a three-way joint business agreement with US carrier United Airlines and Avianca of Colombia on US-Latin America routes.

  • Converse 

Nike-owned sneaker brand Converse has replaced previous global media agency, Omnicom’s PHD, with IPG’s Initiative, Ad Age first reported. The account was put into review in early 2018.  PHD, which won the Converse media business away from Starcom in 2015, did not participate. Converse U.S. anual spend is US$20 million. Nike is planning to ramp up digital advertising for Converse, according to Adage.

 

 

 

 

  • Spirit Airlines

Spirit Airlines is expanding service from Orlando to Latin America, the Caribbean and the southeastern U.S.Officials with the airline announced that it would start flying from Orlando to Panama, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Colombia.In the Caribbean, the airline will start flying from Orlando to St. Thomas and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.In the southeastern U.S., the airline will start flying from Orlando to Greensboro, North Carolina, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.Spirit CEO Bob Fornaro says Orlando is now one of the airline’s largest markets. He says Orlando is well positioned to serve as a gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • Copa Airlines

Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A. and a member of the global Star Alliance network, will operate daily flights between Curaçao and Panama City as of July 17, 2018, offering its passengers more flight options, with convenient schedules and greater connectivity with the rest of the continent.Passengers traveling between Panama and Curaçao will now enjoy more convenient, flexible schedules starting July 17. Copa Airlines will operate daily flights from Panama to Curaçao, departing at 9:13 am and arriving at 12:18 pm (local time), and from Curaçao to Panama, departing at 1:18 pm and arriving at 2:30 pm (local time).Copa Airlines currently operates an average of 350 daily flights through the Hub of the Americas, founded in 1992 and located at the Tocumen International Airport. Thanks to Copa’s extensive network of routes, Tocumen is considered the airport with the most international destinations in Latin America.

Aloft Hotels, Marriott International‘s brand for music lovers and music makers, and Universal Music Group & Brands (UMGB), the brand strategy division of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, have launched the 2018 edition of Aloft Hotels’ artist discovery competition Project: Aloft Star, and unveiled the first-ever Project: Aloft Star Tour, a five-city tour celebrating UMG’s emerging artists.Starting today, musicians can enter for a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime prize Project: Aloft Star Tour until August 20. Copa Airlines, subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A., and Turkish Airlines, both members of Star Alliance, signed a Codeshare Agreement which will offer passengers more flight options with seamless connections through Copa’s Hub of the Americas, in Panama City, and Turkish’s seamless gateway to Europe through the company’s Hub, in Istanbul, Turkey.The strategic Hub of the Americas of Copa Airlines, in Panama City, will allow passengers coming from Istanbul fast and efficiently connect to 74 destinations in America and the Caribbean, including the most important cities of the region. Also with this codeshare agreement, the Latin American passengers traveling with Turkish Airlines through its uniquely positioned hub, Istanbul, that bridges the East and the West, will have more entry options to Europe also Africa, Asia/ Far East and Middle East. This agreement, which complements and expands the route networks of both airlines as well as the connectivity between the continents, will also improve and promote bilateral opportunities for tourism and commercial developments between two countries.

 

 

  • Wyndham

Wyndham Opens Two Wyndham Grand Hotels in Paraguay and Uruguay.With the debut of its upper-upscale Wyndham Grand brand in Asunción, Paraguay, and Montevideo, Uruguay, 10 of the company’s 18 brands operate in 11 countries across the continent.Situated in the centers of these two capital cities, the newly constructed Esplendor Asunción – A Wyndham Grand Hotel and Esplendor Montevideo – A Wyndham Grand Hotel offer business and leisure travelers the signature Wyndham Grand experience.

 

 

  • IHG

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announces the signing of a new-build Holiday Inn hotel in Lima, the capital of Peru. The 19-story, 200-room property will be owned by Grucaba SAC and managed by IHG. The hotel will be situated on Avenida Ricardo Palma in the Miraflores District, an affluent residential area south of downtown Lima known for its upscale dining and shopping.It is scheduled for a Q3 2019 opening.IHG has nearly 1,250 Holiday Inn hotels worldwide, 29 of which are located throughout Latin America. IHG has hotels in nearly 100 countries, with 225 hotels and more than 38,000 rooms throughout Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Flights will travel between Denver and Panama City four times a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.From Panama, travelers will be able to connect to many more destinations in Central and Southern America.Flights on Copa Airlines offer several amenities that are becoming harder to find on American carriers, such as free meals and drinks (including wine and liquor) and two free checked bags.

 

  • Anheuser-Busch InBev

veza-surAnheuser-Busch InBev is adding another brand to its craft and import focused portfolio by launching Veza Sur Brewing Co. in Miami. The company described Veza Sur as a “Latin-American inspired craft beer brand,” and said it would also open a brewpub in the Wynwood Art District of Miami.Along with Burger, 10 Barrel Brewing co-founder Chris Cox and Bogota Beer Company founder Berny Silberwasser, were credited with helping to develop the brand. Anheuser-Busch owns both 10 Barrel Brewing and Bogota Beer Company.

 

  • Discovery – Costa Rica Theme Park

descarga (1)Discovery Communications, owner of Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, will build a US$400 million theme park in Costa Rica. Local investment firm Sun Latin America will be responsible for developing the 800-hectars (1,977-acre) project in the province of Guanacaste, a beach tourism destination some 225 kilometers (139.81 miles) north of the capital, the government said.The park, which will include hotels, eco-adventure activities, sports areas and restaurants, will generate some 2,000 jobs during its 2018-2020 construction, Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solís told a news conference.Discovery Communications and Sun Latin America did not provide details on their agreement.

This investment will strengthen the airlines’ partnership, provide more travel options for customers in the U.S. and Mexico and deliver the industry’s best customer experience.Currently, Delta owns approximately 4.1 percent of the shares of Grupo Aeroméxico and holds an option to acquire an additional 8.1 percent. Separately, the Delta pension trust holds options to acquire approximately 4.6 percent of Grupo Aeroméxico. Following completion of the tender offer, Delta and the Delta pension trust collectively would own and/or have options to acquire up to a total of 49 percent of the outstanding shares of Grupo Aeroméxico.

 

 

  • Tang

images-2Ogilvy & Mather Argentina has released juice brand Tang latest campaign “Tenemos que hablar” (“We need to talk”) which seeks to give a slight attention to parents through two new spots, “Beso” & “Auriculares” (“Kiss” and “Headphones.”) The campaign is the first of the brand’s new communication strategy. Starcom Mediavest Argentina is the Tang’s  media agency.

 

 

 

  • Long Island Iced Tea Corp.

descarga (2)Ikea, a multinational group of companies that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture appliances and home accessories, has concluded a media agency review which began in March, completing the global phase of the process and consolidating its roster of media agencies to two holding companies: GroupM and Dentsu Aegis Network.The firm spends around US$435 million annually on ads worldwide. Regional IKEA units will select a media partner from among the GroupM or Dentsu Aegis brands. Both holding companies already work with IKEA in many markets.

  • Swarovski

descarga (3)Swarovski, producer of luxury cut lead glass, has appointed Havas Media to handle its global media business following a review from Jan. 1, 2017. Publicis Groupe’s Zenith is the incumbent.The account now covers more than 35 countries with a focus on the U.S., China, the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, Canada, Spain, Mexico and Brazil. The account will include all media duties, including social and programmatic.

  • Mexico Tourism Board

descargaLourdes Berho of IWF Mexico was named CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board. She was previously the CEO of Conde Nast for Mexico and Latin America from 2004 to 2008, and she also served as vice president of commercialization for Grupo Banamex. She will assume the role of CEO for the Mexico Tourism Board on July 1st. She brings 25 years of experience in management, marketing, luxury travel, publishing and sustainable tourism to the role.

  • Copa Airlines

descarga (2)Copa Airlines announced they will begin direct nonstop flights between the airline’s Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Panama and the historic city of Chiclayo, Peru. The airline’s twice-weekly flights will increase connectivity between northern Peru and Copa’s extensive route network, which consists of 74 destinations in 31 countries in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.Copa’s new Panama-Chiclayo flight has the potential to generate tourism and trade between this interesting city and the rest of the American continent.Copa Airlines’ new flight launches as the number of Panamanian tourists visiting Peru is on the rise.  Flights between Panama and Chiclayo are timed to offer the most convenient connections to the Peruvian city from major cities on the continent, including Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., in the United States; Havana, Cuba; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Bogota, Barranquilla and Cartagena, Colombia; and other major cities of Central, North and South America and the Caribbean.
