Azteca America has announced that Luis Hernández has joined the network as General Manager of KVDF in San Antonio and KADF in Austin. The announcement marks a return to Azteca for Hernández, who previously was Vice President and GM for KAZD in Dallas from 2010-2013. Hernández will report to Enrique Perez, Executive Vice President, Station Group, Azteca America.Hernández joins Azteca from Telemundo, where he served as President and GM of the network’s San Antonio affiliate, KVDA, since 2013.

Univision Digital, the digital division of Univision Communications, Inc., announced that Hilda García has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president, Digital Local Media. A native of Mexico City, García is based in Miami, reporting to Borja Echevarria, vice president and editor in chief, Univision Digital, and to Kevin Mills, vice president of Digital Strategy. Before joining Univision Digital, García was vice president of Multimedia Content and Community Development for Entravision Communications Corporation, where she managed the company’s online communities and digital initiatives.

The New York-based digital media Refinery29  has appointed Amy Emmerich to the newly created position of chief content officer and added “global” to the title of long-serving editor-in-chief Christene Barberich. The promotions come as Refinery29 has seen a year of growth both in original content creation and total video view counts — spurred by a $50 million investment from Scripps and WPP earlier this year.

Sprint named a new CMO and a new president for one of its four national regions. Roger Solé will replace Kevin Crull as the carrier’s CMO and Crull will now head up the Central region. Until now Roger Solé was working as  SVP at Sprint and had focused on expanding the carrier’s presence in the Hispanic market. Solé is also credited with launching Sprint’s Switch and Save 50% promotion, its $1 iPhone promotion and Sprint Open World. Pennsylvania. Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure is restructuring the company into four geographic areas: West, Central, Northeast and South. As president of the Central region, Crull will have responsibility for Kansas City, Sprint’s headquarters, as well as for Chicago, Indianapolis and Minneapolis.

McKeon’s new role was announced by Hearst President and Chief Executive Officer Steven R. Swartz and Hearst Newspapers President Mark Aldam as McKeon met for the first time with employees at the Chronicle. He begins his new duties on Monday. In naming McKeon president and publisher of the Chronicle, Swartz and Aldam also announced that Susan Pape would become chief operating officer of the San Antonio Express-News. A successor to McKeon as president and publisher of the newspaper will be named shortly, they said.

O’Connor will remain based in New York and will continue to report to Randy Falco, president and chief executive officer. Under O’Connor’s leadership, UCI is putting greater emphasis on diversifying its portfolio of assets by bringing together its Corporate Development and Enterprise groups under one function called Enterprise Development. This division will focus on enhancing UCI’s market position to help incubate and launch new products and businesses. O’Connor will retain her responsibilities leading content distribution, driving the company’s distribution efforts across all screens, including online and mobile, and expanding its content availability and licensing revenue by securing key partnerships and new business models with both traditional and emerging content distributors. Today she is responsible for the development of 52 reporting units in 39 countries, in addition to other 50 affiliated offices across six continents with the task of reshaping the IPG Mediabrands networks, UM, Initiative and the newly launched BPN.Prior to her current position, Andrea became part of the first-ever cluster-oriented structure implemented by a media agency network, as Chief Operating Officer, World Markets at IPG Mediabrands. In merely a year since the creation of World Markets, the cluster won approximately a thousand new accounts worldwide and was bestowed with more than 80 international awards and recognitions during its first semester.Andrea joined the IPG Mediabrands family in 2009 as President of UM, Latin America, where she achieved outstanding business results, with more than 80 top advertisers joining the agency, including Chrysler, Microsoft, Direct TV, Falabella, Nextel, and Pizza Hut, among others.Prior to joining the IPG Mediabrands family, Andrea led the new business development unit at OMG Latin American.
