Telefonica España (NYSE: TEF) announced that Yahoo! (NSDQ: YHOO) is powering the mobile Internet search experience and sponsored search advertising on Telefonica's emocion portal. This announcement builds on the mobile search partnership with O2 Germany launched in November 2009, as well as the larger agreement announced in October 2007 to provide consumers with Yahoo! as the primary search service on Telefonica's mobile portals in 15 European and Latin American countries.That agreement did not include Spain.
Yahoo!'s mobile search service provides Telefonica's consumers in Spain with relevant information on virtually any topic from news, financial information, weather conditions, Flickr(TM) photos, and travel information, to websites, integrated information from Wikipedia. Yahoo! will also display relevant ringtones, wallpapers, games, and other content from the emocion portal within the search results.
