Spanish telecoms giant Telefonica and Norwegian rival Telenor ASA announced today they have signed a partnership agreement, allowing them to support the requirements of their multinational customers (MNCs) in each other's markets, with focus on mobile services.

No financial details were available.

Under the deal, Telenor will support Telefonica in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, and Telefonica will support Telenor in the 19 European and Latin American countries where the Spanish telco currently has mobile operations.

The agreement also defines how the two parties will collaborate and support each other in the multinational market, covering rules of engagement, bid management, products and services, service-level agreements (SLAs), and operational processes and systems.

Telefonica serves more than 800 MNCs through its unit Telefonica Multinational Solutions, many of which require services in the Nordic countries. Likewise, Telenor serves a number of clients that have requirements in the countries where Telefonica operates.
