PRISA Digital and Meristation, the online gaming magazine of reference in Spanish language, have reached an agreement under which the company founded by Pep Sanchez will become part of PRISA. The agreement is part of the new strategy of PRISA Digital oriented to development and launch of new digital content, and demonstrates the firm commitment of PRISA to become an advance technology multinational. In this sense, online games have become one of the strategic sectors for new business development in the digital domain.
Meristation, founded in the 90's by Pep Sanchez and Elena Avellaneda, had last December 1.030.000 unique users according to Nielsen Netview, being leader with an average of 872.000 unique users in 2010, and maintained since its creation.
Meristation now occupies a place, prominent in the history of the Internet in Spain as one of the success stories of reference for the sector. Meristation success is explained largely by having known, hold for all these years the quality and solidity of its contents, what has allowed them to gain credibility and loyalty of its users. "For PRISA Digital these values remain the most active, Meristation and we want to maintain bases and drive in the framework of a common growth strategy," said Bherwani.
