The new magazine is published by Progresa Mexico, which is owned by Grupo Prisa. Progresa Mexico is led by Javier Torrontegui. Last August, Prisa (Progresa) launched its first magazine —Solo Para ti, a free monthly with a circulation of 100,000 — in Mexico.
…and evaluates the viability of a partnership with Televisa
Grupo Prisa and Mexico's Editorial Televisa discussed the possibility of launching a magazine in the general information/political category (e.g. Time or Newsweek) for the Mexican market. They decided not to pursue the project because of the poor advertising outlook. In México, the main advertisers for these magazines are governmental institutions and political parties. Televisa and Prisa are co-owners of the Mexican radio station Radiópolis, and, more recently, a film distribution and production company.
