The Paraguayan government, which was set to decide whether to open up the country’s Internet market to greater competition has postponed its decision.

At present the entire market is dominated by the state-owned company Copaco.

Last week, Paraguay’s President Fernando Lugo met with representatives of Copaco and telecommunications regulator Conatel to explore the possibility of allowing more competition in the wholesale internet market.

However, the government has announced that the decision has been postponed, and that talks will begin in again in March.
