Media entrepreneur Martha Debayle plans to launch her own parenting magazine in the second half of 2003. Debayle, sometimes called the Mexican Martha Stewart, is fast becoming the dominant force in the Parenting category (consumer goods and media). Her firm bbmundo owns various media platforms including the Internet (bbmundo.com), radio, television and soon print. Bbmundo is currently evaluating an expansion into the US Hispanic parenting (Portadatm No. 1 January/February 2003, page 8). Along with her magazine, Debayle also plans to write a book entitled “Entendiendo a los niños” (Understanding Children). Both ventures will require an investment of US $750,000.
