Media Economics Group has launched coverage of online advertising activity in Colombia with its new ColombiaWebMonitor™ service. In launching ColombiaWebMonitor™, Media Economics Group has entered into a strategic partnership between Havas Media Group (through its digital arm, Havas Digital) and ACIM (Asociacion Colombiana de Investigacion de Medios). ACIM is the leading organization for furthering media research in Colombia. Havas Media is one of the largest media agency groups in the world and the leader in the industry in Latin America.
This new service will track advertising activity in 30+ Colombian websites, providing media companies and advertising agencies with exclusive information on those advertisers who are targeting Colombian online audiences. The initial 30+ sites in the ColombiaWebMonitor™ service include the digital properties of the main media companies in Colombia (e.g. CanalRCNMSN.com, ElEspectador.com, ElTiempo.com, and Semana.com) as well as pan-regional portals (e.g. MSN Colombia, Starmedia Colombia, and Terra Colombia). Data for ColombiaWebMonitor™ begins with January, 2010.
Carlos Pelay, president of Media Economics Group notes that "We are very excited at launching this new service. Colombia represents an important online market in Latin America with 21 million users and a penetration of nearly 50%. Online ad spending has been growing at a very rapid pace and is estimated to reach $33.1 million (US$) in 2010.”
David Posada, Director of Havas Digital in Colombia, notes that “ColombiaWebMonitor™ represents an important tool to bring additional development to the digital market in Colombia. Agencies, publishers and advertisers will be able to know what their competitors and key players are doing online in a very accurate way. We are very excited to partner with Media Economics Group and ACIM to make this tool available for the market. We expect that ColombiaWebMonitor™ will be a valuable tool for advertisers to increase their online activity.”
