Mexican media giant Televisa has struck a deal with U.S.-based Netflix to distribute its soap operas and other content in Latin America.
Under the agreement, Televisa will place at Netflix's "non-exclusive" disposal about 3,000 hours per year of its programming, which will become available one year after its appearance on broadcast television.
"This agreement will increase the availability of Televisa programming in Latin America, Brazil and the Caribbean, where Netflix has announced its plan to launch subscription streaming by the end of the year," Televisa said.
The Mexican network said that the agreement does not include distribution within the United States.
Televisa is the world's largest producer of Spanish-language media content and currently has a 68.1 percent market share of the television audience in Mexico.
