Earlier this month, China Central Television (CCTV-E) started broadcasting in Spain. The channel's launch is expected to help promote Spanish-speaking populations' understanding of China.
The channel, which broadcasts 24 hours a day, focuses on current news and also runs segments and programs on culture, special reports and TV series.
Its entry into the European country, through the Imagenio IPTV platform of Telefonica de Espana, is opening a new window for all Spanish-speaking audiences around the world to know more about China.
“As Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, used by over 20 countries as their official language, CCTV-E will serve as a bridge between the two countries and its broadcasting in Spain will play a special role in promoting mutual understanding and the friendship between the peoples of the two countries,” said Wang Taihua, head of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of China.
