In November, Mexican publishing house Expansión launched the new monthly Chilango, another name for a resident of Mexico City. The new publication, covering Mexico City's arts and culture scene, has a circulation of 70,000 copies and a retail price of 29 pesos (US $2.50). Fernanda Sanchez, Chilango's editor, told the news agency Efe, “We will explore all that defines us as residents of this city.” According to Sánchez, all major cities have magazines about the lifestyle of their residents. Up till now, Mexico City, with a population of 20 million, has not had one of its own. Chilango's first issue includes 32 reasons to love and hate Mexico City, an essay about Mexico City by Xabier Velasco, and entertainment and restaurant listings published in cooperation with the British magazine Time Out.
