What: The HPRA-NY (Hispanic Pulblic Relations New York) is increasing its´ number of scholarships given by announcing the submission period for the 2nd Annual HPRA-NY Scholarship Program, beginning March 31.
Why it matters: Organizations supporting the Hispanic marketing and communications industries play an important part in initiatives fostering the education of Hispanics. As a result of the HPRA initiative two qualified undergraduate New York area college students of Hispanic descent, seeking career in communications and marketing fields, will receive an US $2,000 scholarship and other valuable accolades.
The 2nd Annual HPRA-NY scholarship will be awarded to two qualified undergraduate New York area college students of Hispanic descent seeking career in communications and marketing fields. Both beneficiaries will receive a US $2,000 scholarship. In addition, the winners will receive complimentary student memberships to HPRA-NY for one calendar year and one-on-one mentorship from some of New York’s leading Hispanic communications and marketing professionals.
Last year´s HPRA-NY Scholarship was awarded to New York University’s Lia Martinez-Santamaria who received US $2,000 to pursue her education goals.
The application deadline is Friday, June 6, 2014 and call-for-entries is open immediately. The winners of the Program will be announced later this summer.To qualify, student applicants must meet these requirements:
- Be a resident of the State of New York, New Jersey or Connecticut
- Attend a New York, New Jersey or Connecticut based four-year accredited college or university at the sophomore or junior level
- Be of Hispanic heritage
- On a 4.0 scale, maintain a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA and 3.0 specific public relations, communications, journalism, advertising or marketing GPA
- Major in public relations, communications, journalism, advertising and/or marketing.
