The hugely popular Oprah Winfrey Show has announced that it is embracing Spanish-speaking audiences by presenting its show bilingually.
Chicago-based Harpo Productions says the show is being made available in Spanish through Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) and closed captioning.
The Spanish-language iterations launched Monday in the country's six largest Hispanic TV markets, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston and Dallas. More cities are expected to be added this season.
It remains to be seen which other Harpo products—if any—are adapted to Spanish-language audiences. Apart from the television show, Harpo productions also runs a film studio, a radio show (Oprah & Friends), and publishes O Magazine.
When reached for comment, Harpo productions stated that they have nothing further to announce at this time.
