Mundo Hispánico (Atlanta Journal Constitution, weekly, bilingual, circ. 55,000) will launch Pasos, April 10. Pasos: Para Vivir Mejor or Steps to Better Living is a weekly tabloid publication that will serve as a “how to” guide for new Hispanic residents of the metropolitan Atlanta area.

Each Monday, 35,000 copies distributed of Pasos will be available free at local retailers, in news racks and through home delivery in select neighborhoods.

According to MundoHispánico Publisher Lino Dominguez, the publication will feature short stories and color photographs to illustrate the steps readers can take to accomplish their goals. “We have a rapidly growing Latino population in metro Atlanta who need information that will help them acculturate to the U.S. lifestyle,” he said.

Atlanta's Hispanic population exceeded 500,000 in 2005 and is expected to grow by another 31.5% by 2010. With 69 % of the population from Mexico and more than 63 % living in metro Atlanta 10 years or less, Pasos is designed to address the needs of this growing market, according to MundoHispánico Editor Juan Arango.

Pasos joins the weekly newspaper, MundoHispánico, which is published each Thursday, and the annual yellow pages directory, PagínasAmarillas, to increase the company's offerings to Hispanic readers. “We now have a suite of products to provide both news and information services to a rapidly growing segment of our publication,” said Alex Taylor, Vice President and Business Manager for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The AJC acquired MundoHispánico in May 2004. MundoHispánico has served metropolitan Atlanta's Hispanic market since 1979.
