This June, Reuters plans to move its Spanish-language editorial operations from Miami to Santiago de Chile. The move will impact about 20 editorial staffers, including editors, copy editors and translators. Those professionals who decide to stay with Reuters will be taken on as “local hires,” that is, they will be paid the prevailing wage for their jobs in Chile. Reuters English-language service, which covers South Florida and the Caribbean, will remain in Miami.
