Editora El Paso del Norte launched El Diario, a 20,000 circ. Spanish-language daily. The newspaper will be distributed in El Paso and in Southern New Mexico. “We will be targeting a community that until now has been forgotten by print media properties in this border region”, Gerardo Rodriguez, editor and vicepresident of El Diario de El Paso, told Spanish news agency Efe. Rodriguez added that the investment to put out the new publication is between US $8-US$10 million and the total headcount at the new newspaper is 135.
The El Paso Times (Gannett, daily, circ. 75,218) is the leading newspaper in El Paso. In January it introduced a weekly Spanish-language entertainment product TV y Más with a press run of 25,000 copies.
