Ashland Publishing, LLC, owned by Gannett and publisher of La Voz, a weekly Spanish language publication in Arizona, announced the launch on November 12 of La Voz Fin de Semana, a new weekend home-delivered edition.
The new publication will be delivered to 60,000 homes in the Phoenix metro area with a combined 85% Hispanic household penetration. After deciding to publish a weekend edition La Voz now publishes twice a week. La Voz, which also publishes the weekly La Voz de Tucson, will have a combined 135,000 distribution and is audited by VAC (Verified Audit Circulation).
La Voz Fin de Semana, will be distributed each Saturday and will feature news and information on shopping, leisure, social life, entertainment, movies, sports, local events and activities, home buying tips, interior decorating ideas, church events and obituaries.
La Voz was first published in January, 2000. “The continued growth of La Voz with this complete weekend issue, positions us as the indisputable leader in the Phoenix market”, said Frank Escobedo, General Manager of Ashland Publishing, LLC. According to Elvira Espinoza, Publisher of La Voz, “the Hispanic community was ready for a weekend product and La Voz Fin de Semana will more than fill that need.”
The La Voz reporting staff includes a 2001 Pulitzer Prize winning columnist and 2002 winner of an Overseas Press Club Award for reports originating from Argentina. Its staff also includes the 2003, 2004 and 2005 National Association of Hispanic Publications Latina Journalist of the Year.
