Hogar Latino to Launch Vida y Salud

The publisher of Casa y Hogar will launch Vida y Salud in 2007, a magazine that will cover content related to family life and health.

Hogar Latino, publisher of Casa y Hogar, will launch Vida y Salud, a magazine that will cover family life and health issues. Vida y Salud is currently published as a section of Casa y Hogar, but will be spinned off as a stand-alone magazine in February 2007.

Vida y Salud will have the same distribution method as Casa y Hogar, which is mostly distributed as a Hispanic newspaper insert.

Vida y Salud expects to attract a significant amount of pharmaceutical companies as advertisers as well as other ad categories, like financial (insurance, personal finance) and Consumer Product Companies. Some current Casa y Hogar advertisers may be cross sold into Vida y Salud.

Casa y Hogar recently expanded its circulation to 864,000 from 801,000. It added the San Francisco Spanish-language weekly El Mensajero (Impremedia, circ. 112,139). By adding El Mensajero to its distribution, Casa y Hogar's home delivery circulation increased to 530,000.

The bimonthly publication recently gained advertisers including Moen (a manufacturer of plumbing supplies), Home Depot, DirecTV Sears and Armstrong Flooring. The magazine charges an open rate CPM of sixty dollars and plans to become a monthly in 2007.

Casa y Hogar was launched last November and is backed by Publications Services of America (PSA), a magazine publisher for the newspaper industry. PSA publishes mostly shelter titles. Its publications have a circulation of close to 3 million. PSA partners with newspapers throughout the United States to deliver a sophisticated turn-key, special section products that capture non-traditional revenue from local markets.
