Napa Valley, CA, has a new Spanish-language newspaper entitled Hispanos Unidos, or United Latinos. The paper will be published on a biweekly basis and available for free at markets and other gathering places. The paper currently reaches just over 17,000 readers, and plans to expand editorial coverage and local advertising. The new launch is being produced by Napa Valley Publishing.

Two of the paper's sections will be fully bilingual to serve as a learning aid to Spanish-dominant readers who would like to learn some English.

Although the paper has been generally well-received by the Latino community, many area Anglos feel under siege by the influx of Hispanics in the area and view the newspaper as an enabler to those who have no desire to learn English or assimilate into U.S. culture.
