CQ Press discontinued publication of CQ Researcher en español last December. The weekly publication was launched in spring 2003. It targeted librarians and offered in-depth coverage on a wide range of social, economic, political, and environmental issues. Allan Grimes at CQ Press tells Portada® that the product did not meet enough demand from Librarians. “Hispanics seem to need more practical information”, he said. Grimes added that CQ Press is still promoting a couple of Spanish-language books associated with CQ Researcher en español.
CQ Press is a private company belonging to the family of companies owned by the St. Petersburg, Florida based Poynter Institute, a school for journalists named in honor of CQ's founder, Nelson Poynter.
