Mochila is announcing the launch of Mochila en Español at the 62nd annual Inter-American Press Association (IAPA) general assembly in Mexico City. Portada first reported on Mochila's interest in the Hispanic market in April, when it opened its doors

CEO Keith McAllister commented that the new launch was a corollary of the “enormous global demand” for Spanish-language media from various Spanish-language markets around the globe.

Mochila's launch members include Mexican newspaper El Universal, Spanish-language media company Rumbo (Meximerica; Spanish; 410,000), and the Excelsior newspaper (Freedom Communications).

With the launch of Mochila en Español, users will be able to upload and search for Hispanic media in both English and Spanish. Newspapers will also be able to access content from the home-countries of their readers.

Some of Mochila's other media partners include Hearst Magazines, The Associated Press, and Metro International.
