Editorial Televisa announced the appointment of Juan Manuel Cortés as Publisher of its bi-monthly Spanish language celebrity magazine, TVyNovelas. With over 14 years of knowledge and expertise of working within the communications industry, Juan brings with him an extensive background in journalism, entertainment and public relations. Cortes began his career in Bogotá, Colombia as the Public Relations Director for Teatro Nacional and for the Mayor of Medellín. Later he opened his own public relations firm, Info4, in which he represented top clients in Colombia such as L'Oreal, Casa Editorial el Tiempo, Volkswagen and Instituto de Seguros Sociales. Juan Manuel relocated to the United States in 2000. In a year as editor of TVyNovelas, he helped to increase circulation by 41%. With 2,587,000 readers, (Simmons NCS/NCHS) TVyNovelas became the most read Hispanic magazine in the US Hispanic market. Juan Manuel continues strengthening the magazine's popularity on television by appearing on programs such as El Gordo y la Flaca (TVyNovelas.) and Escándalo TV (TVyNovelas.), where he provides insights and previews on celebrities and upcoming issues of TVyNovelas. Meanwhile, Cortes will continue to serve as editor.
Valencia, Pérez & Echeveste Public Relations (VPE) recently promoted Delia López to Account Director responsible for managing the Consumer Strategies Division. In addition, Carlos Munguia was hired as Assistant Account Executive in its Social Marketing and Public Affairs divisions.
López will assist in strategy development and client relations for VPE's core group of corporate accounts, including McDonald's, Target, Disneyland and GMAC Mortgage, among others. She will also be an integral part of new business development. Munguia will assist in numerous projects for the Social Marketing and Public Affairs divisions.
