Felix Sención, publisher of Fútbol Mundial, a Spanish-language sports publication in the U.S., will launch Beisbol Mundial in April. The new magazine will have a circulation of 1 million plus, because it will be distributed in the same manner as Fútbol, mostly as a free insert in 13 leading Hispanic newspapers, including El Diario la Prensa, El Nuevo Herald, La Raza and Al Dia.
Advertising will be available in Beisbol at an open rate of US $42,000 per page (CPM US $42).
The magazine will run 24 to 28 pages, with 40 percent advertising. The magazine, to be edited by Jorge Ignacio Dominguez, will take an international, not an American approach to baseball, with articles on baseball in Latin America and Japan as well as the introduction of the World Cup of baseball.
"We will become the authority on the globalization of baseball," Sención says. The magazine will start as a quarterly, with plans for more frequent distribution next year. Fútbol is a monthly. Beisbol will be a Spanish language publication.
