Al Borde(40,000, Spanish, biweekly), the sister publication of LA’s El Clasificado(270,000, Spanish, weekly), is at it again, bringing its alternative music coverage to the stage with its latest installment of its Acoustic Sessions. “We like to provide these events to our readers to free, as a reward for reading. Our pub is extrememly niche and our readers don’t typically get catered to, so this is a good chance to do that,” says Maria Elena Aguilar, spokesperson for Al Borde.
Started in 2007, the Acoustic Sessions is a series presented throughout the year. The event consists of 4 concerts annually at the Al Borde Lounge in Los Angeles. “What we typically do is invite a local alternative band to come and play this special setting,’ says Aguilar. “It’s a ‘by invitation only’ event for die-hard Al Borde readers,” Aguilar adds. “Capacity at the Al Borde Lounge is a mere 150-200, so it’s really a treat for the fans.”
The next event will take place on the 28th of March and is slated for an alternate venue, El Gallo in East LA. The venue was formerly a mortuary, and has been converted into a music space. Jack Daniels and Monster Beverages are corporate sponsors for the event.
