Catalina Magazine (500,000, monthly, English), which bills itself as being “For the body, mind and soul of today’s Latina”, is taking that mission on the road again this March for the seventh time in as many years.
The magazine’s target audience is Latinas, aged 24-54, and it is this same demo that Catalina’s “Essence of Latinas” tour attracts.
As editor and publisher Cathy Areu tells Portada, “The tour is meant to bring the magazine to life, to give our readers a chance to meet the inspirational people they read about on our pages, including the celebrities featured on our covers. Plus, these Latinas have a chance to meet fellow readers, to ‘power mingle’ as I like to call it.”
This year’s speakers will include: Eva la Rue, Daisy Fuentes, Susie Castillo, Patti Vasquez and Marisol Nichols, as the tour travels to Miami, NY, LA, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Houston.
The tour’s 2008 sponsors are Deloitte, Southwest Airlines, and Eden Foods.
“For our sponsors, the events allow them to sample their products with our readers. For example, Eden foods provides free pasta, soy milk and other organic products to our attendees, introducing their healthy products to our women,” says Areu.
