Starmedia’s parent company, formerly known as Wanadoo, has decided to re-brand itself as simply “Orange.” The move was undertaken in an effort to convey the company’s goal of simplifying interpersonal communication over the internet.
For its part, StarMedia is pointing to the fact that its own name will remain unchanged as a testament to its strength as a brand. It is also announcing that beginning in the second quarter of this year, the company will be rolling out a host of new features that it will announce at a later date.
Orange currently clocks over 22 million unique visitors per month through Starmedia and has incorporated mobile, fixed line, internet and TV offers into the services it offers throughout Europe.
There is no word yet on whether the name change of its parent company will have any tangible effects on StarMedia’s operations.
