Futbol Mundial has announced that it is launching a literacy campaign called “Time to Play, Time to Read.” The goal of the campaign is to encourage families to embrace the ritual of shared reading to foster increase literacy and bi-lingual development.

Soccer great Pelé has recorded a number of public service announcements in support of the campaign and has expressed his gratitude at being able to leverage his fame for a worthy cause.

So far, the Miami-Dade and the New York City school systems have agreed to participate in the pilot program.
