Hispanic social networking sites are looking more like online dating sites these days. The profiles on sites like QuePasa and Terra strongly resemble dating profiles, replete with photos of attractive – and to be honest, not so attractive – people in sultry poses, proffering more info about themselves than one might ever care to know. Oftentimes the comments left on users' message boards range from shameless flattery to outright solicitations. “If you're ever passing through El Paso…”
Of course this development is no mistake. Terra networks partnered with Match.com, the highly popular general market dating site, three years ago, and currently hosts Match.com on its Amor channel.
QuePasa announced its acquisition of highly-popular Latin dating site Corazones.com just after Valentine's Day this year. With the acquisition, QuePasa almost doubled its database of registered users by adding Corazones.com's 300,000 to its ranks, totaling 650,000 registered users.
