- We Are Social / Smirnoff – Brazil
Social media agency We Are Social has announced it is set to open an office in São Paulo, Brazil, after landing its founding client in the country, Smirnoff Vodka. The firm has been charged with helping Smirnoff monitor and engage with consumers through social channels. It will aim to develop a ‘conversational calendar’ to grow Smirnoff’s online community, and encourage people to share pictures and memories of good times as part of the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project.
The firm’s six-person Sao Paolo office will be led by MD Leslie Orsioli, who joins from AgenciaClick Isobar, where she was strategic planning manager.
- Bel Group / OMD – Global
Dairy product manufacturer Bel Group has handed the bulk of its €150 million global media business to OMD, with a small portion also going to ZenithOptimedia and Carat. The companylaunched its media planning and buying review in June. OMD won the account for Europe from Aegis incumbent Carat, and has been engaged to handle "additional co-ordination functions within the group".
- Telecom – Argentina
Telecom Argentina has launched a movie streaming service called ArnetPlay that gives subscribers access to 2,500 catalog movies, TV shows and adult content. The streaming service, which is available for $11.90 a month (50 pesos), now is available for $10 a month for six months to new subscribers.
- Trident – Global
Kraft Foods has appointed Saatchi & Saatchi to its global advertising account for its Trident chewing gum brand. The agency won the account following a competitive pitch against TBWA and Wieden + Kennedy.
Trident began a review of its global business in July, ending its relationship with JWT, which was not involved in the pitch. The agency had worked with the brand for more than eight years. JWT will, however, continue to work on the Halls brand globally and on European brands including Philadelphia, Jacobs, Kenco and Dairylea.
Redknee Solutions – Latin America
Redknee Solutions, provider of business software, has signed a term license agreement valued at $5 million over the initial four-year term to support the launch of a new Latin American mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). The company has announced the expansion into the Latin American market with this agreement.
